**SNIP**
If you are white, and you are reading this letter, I ask that you don't run to seek shelter from your own racism. Don't hide from your responsibility. Rather, begin, right now, to practice being vulnerable. Being neither a "good" white person nor a liberal white person will get you off the proverbial hook. I consider myself to be a decent human being. Yet, I'm sexist. Take another deep breath. I ask that you try to be "un-sutured." If that term brings to mind a state of pain, open flesh, it is meant to do so. After all, it is painful to let go of your "white innocence," to use this letter as a mirror, one that refuses to show you what you want to see, one that demands that you look at the lies that you tell yourself so that you don't feel the weight of responsibility for those who live under the yoke of whiteness, your whiteness.
I can see your anger. I can see that this letter is being misunderstood. This letter is not asking you to feel bad about yourself, to wallow in guilt. That is too easy. I'm asking for you to tarry, to linger, with the ways in which you perpetuate a racist society, the ways in which you are racist. I'm now daring you to face a racist history which, paraphrasing Baldwin, has placed you where you are and that has formed your own racism. Again, in the spirit of Baldwin, I am asking you to enter into battle with your white self. I'm asking that you open yourself up; to speak to, to admit to, the racist poison that is inside of you.

How about you confronting your own bigotry.
I treat blacks and everyone else the same way. I ignore them. Do you think whites think about other whites? No, we could care less. I can assure you I don’t think about anything other than what I have to do each moment of each day.
Furthermore, I just don’t give a damn anymore how I’m perceived or how you feel. Frankly, that’s the last of my worries.
Yet ANOTHER race baiting poverty pimp working hard to keep the “N” word relevant...
“I occasionally have black people come to my door selling magazines etc. I live in a totally white neighborhood.”
Same here. They bus ‘em from ghettos an hour away in another city. I assume the gimmick is to make affluent people either guilty or scared. Seems to have dropped off lately; no one reads magazines anymore except for the tattered, 18 month old freebies in a dentist’s office that is too cheap to install free WiFi.
Sheesh...why can’t they let it go!
My boss is black...from Africa. Our VP is black... They got educated, they do their jobs, just like anybody. NOBODY CARES what color they happen to be.
Once a homie has ridden in the back seat a few times he evidently gets the urge to ride in front so bad he buys (or steals) one.
"Nah Bra, you got to explain this ish first."
Love,
White America.
They all have dead eyes. There’s nothing there behind those eyes.
I agree.
The author was probably admiring himself in a mirror while he was writing this.
Exactly. I have had numerous bosses of other races and we actually kicked ass. I was very humbled by their experience and intellect.
If I am the new target then somebody screwed up somewhere.
If the history of slavery is the problem that will never go away.......
Ask a black man in America where he would be today without it.......
Ask a black man today why destroying the culture of freedom is so ingrained in their belief.......
Stand up to bullshit. I do.
It seems that professors don’t want to consider evidence in their arguments. They’re just based on feelings.
Dear George Yancy: Since you are black, and you wrote that letter, I ask that you don't run to seek shelter from your own racism. Don't hide from your responsibility.
After all, the irony is that racism is the assumption that all people of a certain color act, feel, or behave the same.
Isn't irony ironic?
Never has so much been given to so few and they have done so little.
Yep. Nobody but white people ever oppressed anybody; and no white person was ever oppressed.
Laz, for the first 15 years of my adult life a black man was in charge.
First in the service and then on Fed Contracts.
These guys were a as smart as they come and provided me with invaluable experience.
Were they racists? I don’t think so. They let this good ole’ boy run roughshod and get er done.
This entire Obama episode is crap.
I got a guy, the smartest dude I have ever met, and he’s black. I go to him as a technical resource. He’s awesome.
Will there be a follow up letter “dear black people”? I thought so. Blacks are not racist
He’s just another in a line of racist racial extortionists.
MESSAGE TO RACIST AUTHOR PUBLISHING IN RACIST NEW YORK TIMES: I don’t need to “practice” being vulnerable, because the POS racist paper New York Times refuses to publish the race of perpetrators of interracial violence, and racists like you, the author, are encouraging interracial black on white violence.
Our own Federal “Justice” Department refuses to prosecute these types of crimes.
I will instead spend my time “practicing” how to defend myself against people like you.
