Donald Trump may be getting the best gift of all this holiday season, as he enters 2016 firmly on top in the Republican race for the White House.
The GOP presidential hopeful has proved the doubters wrong, solidifying a double-digit lead in national polls while running one of the most unorthodox campaigns in history.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) - who has seen his support plunge amid Trump's rise - predicted at a private Dallas fundraiser in mid-November that Trump would falter by the next GOP debate.
"Come December 15, Trump will be in decline," Bush reportedly said.
But on the eve of Christmas, Trump still tops the Republican field by 17 points, even as Bush lags behind in the single digits.
"He's obviously been able to defy political gravity for much of this campaign," GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak said, noting Trump's advantages of being a celebrity and attracting heavy media coverage.
The latest national polls confirm that Trump's momentum isn't slowing down. Within the past week, Trump:
Topped the field in a post-debate survey from Public Policy Polling, increasing his lead by 8 points
Bested the second-place finisher by 4 points in a Quinnipiac University poll
And opened up a 21-point lead in a CNN/ORC International poll

Quinnipiac is an out-liar. It is so out of sync with all the other polling except NBC.
What is stopping other candidates from holding multiple rallies and townhall meetings where they fire up the crowds with straight from the heart speeches, thus attracting media and free publicity?
Where are the other candidates?
Not only has TRUMP received a priceless gift - AMERICANs have been given a gift as well. And as a united US, we pray we’ve been given a gift that keeps on giving.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen....
Have a blessed, lighted, Christmas
I agree. Other than perhaps Cruz, it seems like the other candidate have dropped from the scene. I don’t see Rubio anywhere. Nor Carson and the rest. But Trump continues to have huge rallies all over the country.
JEB shudda listened to his mommy.

I consider him a special Christmas present and looking forward to a spectacular New Year filled with hope!
Trump's not defying gravity...he's floating on a powerful upthrust of support from Americans who want their damned country back again.
One of the homemade signs we carried at the 9/12/2009 protest in DC, and again in 2010 said:"I want my country back!"
And we still do.
GO DONALD!!!
Their hearts are very dark.
The serfs will no longer accept them if their true hearts are known.
“Quinnipiac is an out-liar.” And only liars like Faux News uses it.
The polls are run by liberal crackheads
I gave Trump gear for Christmas Presents. One friend ventured out in his “Make America Great Again” Camo hat, and had several people ask where they could get one.
This is in the TX Hill Country where the GOP pretends Trump isn’t running, and many Trump supporters are in the closet. I did wear my Trump stocking cap to Home Depot and HEB this morning, and no illegals beat me up.
As do I! :-)
The man has not yet been elected, but somehow America has had a ray of sunshine which has brightened our day considerably. After seeing this - what can be expected once he begins officially working with US? OH HAPPY DAY!
I am in no way defending the paucity of campaign prowess of the other candidates, but they all were pretty much blindsided by a tsunami they weren’t prepared for, and pretty much (at least a few of them) will not recover from. The others are still campaigning and holding events, albeit small, cozy affairs :)
That being said, it’s hard for a candidate to get traction when the media is 24/7 Trump. Like him or not, he is a media genius and knows how to dominate the landscape and suck the oxygen out of the other campaigns. Look at what the conversation was for the Democrat debate and still days after. Do you remember anything else said or talked about besides “schlonging”?
Trump is that the new name Grinch?
