If you want to understand why former Florida governor Jeb Bush has fallen so far in the polls - and why he should not yet be counted out in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination - it helps to talk to Mark Donlevie.
A recent retiree who lives in nearby Stratham, N.H., Donlevie was among about 200 people who showed up to hear Bush at a town hall here Saturday. He had been an early supporter of Bush but lost his confidence as he watched Bush stumble through the fall. Donlevie was particularly disappointed with the listless candidate he had seen during the early round of debates.
But the candidate he saw in Exeter was more aggressive and engaged than the "low-energy" Bush that frontrunner Donald Trump so often maligns. Bush has also taken to attacking Trump far more directly than the other Republicans.

Just went to te local Trump Christmas Party. Met lots of dedicated and motivated volunteers.
Bush is a pathetic piece of burnt toast!
Trumps speaks to rallies of thousands and thousands of people.
Bush speaks to 200 people — and it’s a sign that he’s doing better.
No one is fooled by this sycophantic media coverage.
Trump is a big jerk, and, ah, ah, he's, ah, he's a jerk, too.
And there is the problem. The Bush family seems to think this has become hereditary office.
The enthusiasm in that room is breathtaking.
If Donald Trump really did write and publish a hardcover book like the one in that photo, two things would happen within 72 hours:#1. Trump would be loudly and severely ridiculed and slammed for publishing such a book, which appeared to be for preschoolers. #2. The book would be on the New York Times Bestsellers list within days.
This is a measure of his popularity and prominance right now.
That time will eventually pass. Remember, there was a time when whatever Sarah Palin said or wrote, whatever she was thought to have said would make news. Sarah will always be famous, but that high peak plateau could not be sustained forever.
Look at the EXCITEMENT he stirs up in a crowd in post 5. These folks look highly motivated to vote for Yeb.
Lol!
Just GIVE IT UP already, Jethro! ...uhh, Jeb...
Reminds me of a description of Kofi Annan as
“a burned out cinder of a man.”
True, no tree grows to the sky. But the presidency is a big sky and Trump has lots of tree left to go.
One voter at a time...
Good, he should be ready in about 2024. By then the world will have passed him by even more so.
:)
He has to fight for them one voter at a time, that’s because that’s how many show up at his events.
What an enthusiastic crowd.
