Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Friday slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin with whom GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump has expressed mutual respect.
"Important distinction: thug Putin kills journalists and opponents; our presidents kill terrorists and enemy combatants," tweeted Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts.
His tweet came hours after Trump again expressed admiration for the Russian leader during a television interview where he was pressed about Putin's efforts to silence political opponents and journalists.
MSNBC co-host Joe Scarborough pointed out to Trump during the "Morning Joe" segment that Putin "is a person who kills journalists, political opponents and invades countries."
The host appeared taken aback by Trump, who brushed off the remarks and responded by stating that Putin is "running his country and at least he's a leader, unlike what we have in our country."
"Again, he kills journalists that don't agree with him," Scarborough, a former GOP lawmaker, pushed back.
"Well I think our country does plenty of killing also," Trump said.

Putin is a butchering tyrant who would blow us out of the water if he thought he could, and Trump (and some here) get all excited about the man???

Here is the thing:
Strength admires strength. Don’t confuse this with agreement (although on ISIS, I suspect they agree). It means you see someone as a worthy adversary and not a patsy.
Reagan never insulted Gorbachev — he may have thought he was misguided, but he never thought he was weak, thus disrespected. Putin believes Obama is WEAK. It’s a very dangerous situation for American citizens.
And for the rest of the world.
God, People. Stay close to your friends and stay closer to your enemies.

Maybe Putin is trying to hurt Trump by praising him.
Hey Scarborough, sure Putin kills journalists with impunity but as Trump says we kill people also. Except we don’t kill journalists we kill Law enforcement officials and random white people, or at least Blacks do and never get held to account....just like Putin.
65,000,000,000 people voting for a guy that BBQ’s dead babies ripped apart by suction and fries with saline is even less conservatism. Didn’t stop 65,000,000,000 people from endorsing it with their vote though.
Some are still screaming in defense of their support of it.

Love him or hate him, Putin is the most powerful man in the world. We will have to work with him to defeat Islam.
