A modern-day variation on "better red than dead" . . . Joe Scarborough says that Haley Barbour and many Republican leaders would "much rather" have Hillary be president than to let Trump win and represent the GOP.
On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough said that if it looks like Trump will win the nomination, something Scarborough sees as very plausible, he envisions Mitt Romney or Michael Bloomberg jumping into the race as a third-party candidate. Not really with the goal of winning, but rather to "take a bullet," splitting the vote and denying Trump the White House.

Is Scarborough right: would Haley Barbour and other Republican leaders rather see Hillary become president rather than Trump?
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
So would Joe.
3rd party? Romney would be a concern. Bloomberg in the race would actually help Trump. IMO
Interesting. It would be two pro-choice, gun controllers vs. Trump.
Jo Scarborough - he’s so insightful - so cutting edge - just so smart. NOT!
This FACT has been discussed on FreeRepublic for months. Why doesn’t Jo just peruse FR every day before his show. He would sound a lot smarter.

He probably is right. Most Republican politicians (actually, nearly all) are just liberals masquerading as conservatives. They may say conservative things, but their actions are always liberal.
Unfortunately, this tactic seems to work for them. The base keeps electing these charlatans cycle after cycle.
Shocker.
He reminds me of Huey P. Long.
I had a Haley Barbour on my a$$ once, went to the doctor, he lanced it and let all the puss ooze out of it...I was all better after that.
3rd party?

Well, the GOP certainly doesn’t represent us. That we can be certain of. We sorely need another alternative.
We almost had it in the Tea Party.
No problem.
Then the GOP can go the way of the Whigs.
That has been overdue for over 20 years now.
And don’t shed a tear—this new omnibus bill has enough pork in it, that every member of Congress will live like a freaking king or queen for the rest of their lives, even if you vote them out this year.
And to think—we took on the British Empire for a tax on tea.
This is far worse.
It’s absolutely true due to the adage that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The GOPe and the RATS are willing to trade the gavel and the WH back and forth. But, an outsider would rock the boat, so yes, Barbour et. al, would want Hillary and would indirectly support a candidate to split the vote like he did with the Cochran/McDaniels election.
Gotta keep that mo ey train a’rollin ya know...
Makes the world go round.
So would the entire Republican Party hierarchy for that matter.
Haley Barbour, GOPe Poster Child.
Guarantee you there are MANY GOPe members who fill this way.
Gotta keep that money train a’rollin ya know...
More conversations like this since Trump was perceived to do well in debate. Hewitt’s lineup last night of anti-Trump guests we insufferable including people who are normally decent folks like Sen Cotton
