Though presidential candidates' Twitter feeds have been littered with calls for prayers after the multiple mass shootings these past few weeks, it's anyone's guess as to whether Republicans will finally talk about gun control in substance come Tuesday's debate. The conservative candidates have been notorious for skirting the topic, choosing to back their NRA interests over rigorous debate. But with the Planned Parenthood and San Bernardino shootings happening within just days of one another, will the Republican candidates finally take aim at gun control?
Their past record of doing so has been weak.

I am a very conservative Republican and I DO believe in gun control! I use a Caldwell double sled to tame some of my magnums when I am sighting in. A Limbsaver for a recoil pad helps a lot too!
Sure, one minute of angle is a level of gun control that I can live with.
1) Repeal the National Firearms Act.
2) Repeal the Gun Control Act.
3) Repeal the Hughes Amendment.
These three simple measures would be a good first step toward common sense gun control.
Virginia chose ... poorly.
Out of all the many Guns I have owned for the past fifty years, not one of them has killed a Young Girl like Ted Kennedy did using his Oldsmobile or killed four Brave American Patriots like Hillary Clinton did due to her Incompetence as SOS.
She desperately needs a real man in her life ... but if presented with one, she would drive him away with her petty insanity.
She’s doomed. She will die, alone, and her cats will devour her mortal remains.
Pity ...
You’d hit about everything ...
Control? sure:
1. Hands-on gun use & safety should be taught in public schools. Start with Eddie Eagle type safety rules for younger ones, basic introduction (single shot rifle) at age 10, sporting semi-auto & handguns in high school gym class. Cooper’s Four Rules should be a pass/fail requirement for completing any grade above 4th.
2. Laws updated to presume everyone has a gun. Being surprised by the fact someone is armed should not be the default assumption. Likewise, assume all guns are always loaded; “it was LOADED” should not be a statement of surprise (it’s a gun, it’s not useful if not loaded).
3. Everyone registered with the Selective Service should, in a restoration & update of the Militia Act of 1792, own an M4 (yes, select-fire) or M25 plus 1000 rounds to match. Something akin to ROTC should be a requirement in latter high school. If the nation needs to draft you for war, we expect you already be at least minimally competent and equipped (not completely clueless & disarmed). Restore DCM/CMP inventory to in include surplus & decommissioned arms sufficient to equip the “unorganized militia” at prices suitable for all (as in one rack-grade “it works” M16 available to each registrant for, say, $100).
4. Suspending one’s RKBA is subject to individual adjudication. You don’t lose it unless subject to a conviction where incarceration is justified, to wit: you lose the right; whether it’s done by incarceration or consent is the convictee’s choice.
5. “Gun free zones” are limited to places where use in self-defense would objectively & likely cause more harm than help. (I once worked near a building where a single spark would cause a city-block-flattening explosion. That kind of place.)
6. Complete repeal of GCA, NFA, and 922(o). Federal protection of “shall not be infringed” for all citizens, against infringing states if need be.
7. Criminals with guns should be finding out the hard way that citizens with guns will stop them.
That’s the kind of “gun control” the candidates should be openly & actively supporting.
Remember, there’s currently a serious push from the far Left for “ban ‘em all, confiscate ‘em all, kill anyone who resists” going on _right_now_.
Very true.
Anyone old enough to remember the Clinton years (should have) knows McAwful is nothing but a political hack - I do believe he was originally signing the papers on the New York mansion but got ‘shamed out of it’ at least publicly.
But Clintons coat tail was a good thing to ride, as shown by HRC, McAuliffe, Rahm Emanuel, George Stephenapolous(sp) of course some didn’t fare all that well - Vince Foster and other victims of Arkacide.
In the last race Cuc had a bunch of people weeweed off over his hair, etc etc etc.
Some Lib in Texas backed the Libertarian candidate - that even the Libertarian hierarchy were disclaiming but between the bleed off and the stay at homes, we were put in the BOHICA mode.
The Civil War had Shermans march through Georgia and the Clinton years had him/his machine - steamrolling over ANYONE that stood in his way or made a move against him.
Of course when a country elects a Self Confessed draft dodger to represent them, the question of sanity has to be raised.....
We now have Chapter II of Clintoon and stand an excellent chance of Act III - which will surely put the nail in the coffin.
Don’t get me wrong - W was no walk on the beach either, in fact probably endorsed by NWO... Shame when you can say a candidate as ‘lame’ as W was actually the lesser of two evils....(twice)
FANG has a bunch of rifles, shotguns, blunderbusses, a
crossbow & stuff like that. - Twinkie can’t leave the old
gun around loaded. His family had a tragic handgun
accident many years ago involving the children. (It was
supposed to have been in a “safe” place - no such a place
with kids.) We do have to get ourselves and our frazzled
nerves straight. We are up against something in “jihad”
that is dead serious. Most don’t have the slightest idea.
The enemy is infiltrated way past the “barbarians at the
gates” stage.
Grandad (great, great) wore the S&W in a nice leather
holster. I hope I inherited a little bit of his guts.
THIS is a dam*ed revolting development! To live this long
and now have to be dealing with this crap!! Even our poor
dog, Dub, is totally unaware that she has to buck up and
actually be a real guard dog. The cat, Brutus, is also
living in a dream world. Sigh . . . . .
Only if they want to lose any republican support they now have.
I am definitely for more gun control........wish I could control one better, but my hands are getting shakier as I get older.
