The Cruz v. Trump Rumble Is Coming Tonight
Red State ^ | 12/15/2015 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 12/15/2015 7:55:24 AM PST by conservativejoy

At long last, the battle between Cruz and Trump has been joined. Trump's remarks on Cruz have made national news, and both Limbaugh and Levin have called out Trump. There's no way the moderators of tonight's debate can let this incident pass without remarking on it. Always before, Trump and Cruz have avoided coming to blows because both were mutually agreeable to it.

Now, it seems like that is no longer the case for Trump. And even if his remark may have been off the cuff (as I somewhat expect that it was) and that he probably genuinely feels no personal animus towards Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%, Donald Trump cannot apologize. For one thing, I think he might be physically incapable of saying the words, "I'm sorry." As in, he suffers from a rare and debilitating throat condition that affects him in exactly one way , inability to form the words "I'm" and "sorry" in that order.

For another thing, part of Trump's brand is built on the idea that he is a guy who does not apologize, or admit error, or appear contrite for any reason. If he refused to apologize for mocking a disabled guy , and was praised by his followers for it , how can he apologize for unintentionally besmirching the political reputation of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%?

For Cruz, this then becomes a case of him being in a war, whether he knows it or not. The Donald cannot back down, and thus far has had no reason to. Everyone he has taken on the GOP field has ultimately faded, with the exception of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 94%, who at least has been kept at bay. Trump has no reason to think that tussling with Cruz will end any differently; although the reaction of Limbaugh and Levin may indicate that he may have misread the playing field in that respect.

That does not necessarily mean that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% will respond in kind; in fact, I rather suspect he won’t. Cruz might well go on saying that he thinks The Donald is great, and awesome, and the best think that’s ever happened to America, even while Trump is literally spitting in his face.

However, that in and of itself does not indicating that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% is not fighting; rather, it indicates that he is fighting in essentially the same manner as Ghandi, and hoping to win by roughly the same means.

But one way or another, the confrontation is coming. Trump realizes that he cannot win the nomination with just the ~30% that he has, and the amount that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% is consolidating against him has reached the point of presenting a genuine threat to Trump. Unlike Carson, Trump knows better than to expect that Cruz will be undone on his own through being unprepared or ill-equipped to handle hostile questioning.

Sooner or later it had to happen, and Trump is dictating that it will happen now.

Cruz has seriously hurt Trump's future presidency with his remark about his judgment. Cruz could not have said anything worse; nothing could hurt Trump more than what he said.

I guess the truth really does hurt, eh? Trump, because of his uncontrolled mouth, not Ted Cruz' statement, will have a "challenging question" on this from the voting public.

We shall see....

I am seeing some indication that Trump may disengage for now.

I am thinking Cruz will continue to give him a few hugs....

CNN will stream it free. You can also download CNN’s app if you are using a tablet or Smartphone.

If you don't want to or can't watch, you can listen on radio. I did that for the last debate when the stream went kaplooey and I couldn't get it to work again. I use an app called Tune In Radio. You can search for the debate and the app will plug you into a radio station carrying it.

My hope is that CNN asks him some questions.

I will be surprised if Cruz gets more speaking time than Kasich.

Shall I go on???

Snagged that list for future use (with proper attribution, of course.)

It is eye opening, and a little sad, to see how much of FR is enamored of the sizzle that IS Donald Trump. And how Ted Cruz has become the devil incarnate.

Fascinating.

-— The question has a false premise - Cruz never said that about Trump. If you bothered to listen to the audio or read the unedited transcript, you would know that. -—

They never post the actual quote. Just a coincidence, I guess.

Donald Trump has had as many “severe” flip-flops as Mitt Romney. Romney is rightfully ostracized here. Trump?

I am thinking of unconservative stuff like supporting Kelo, being pro abortion when over 60 yrs old, donating to the Clinton Foundation, being a registered democrat for 10 of the last 15 years, supporting the bank bailout, the Obama stimulus package, supporting Obamacare, attacking Scalia for mentioning a point made for years by Thomas Sowell and Walt Williams about the downside of preferential college admissions.

Trump is a narcacissic opportunist. Elmer Gantry as another poster said.

"hope Trump and Cruz refuse to let the drive-by media dictate to them"

Yeah, I hope they don't fall for the "He said ______ . What do you have to say about that..."

Judging from Cruz's hilarious "Flash Dance" response to Trump, he's not stressing it.

I doubt Trump is going to let himself be dragged into media debate BS either. He knows how the MSM operates.

Each person has to make his case as to why he is the best choice to be POTUS. So no one should be surprised that Trump and Cruz are doing just that.

(Out of curiosity, it would be interesting to know which campaign paid to send send someone to Cruz's fundraiser to make recordings and release them to the NY Times. Trump has high poll numbers so I suspect Jeb or GOPe)

As for my choice for POTUS , I prefer Cruz. It's because he has a deep knowledge and love of our country's history , and Constitution , which gives him a unique understanding of exactly what's gone wrong and what we need to do to get back on track. And he understands best our place in world affairs as well.

He also is a devoted Christian and openly professes his faith-Something that has been sorely missing in our nation.

In light of all the people murdered in cold blood in Paris and San Bernadino we needed to hear something spiritually inspired-Instead the AG issued threats that no one better criticize Muslims or else..

We need Reagan for these times-Cruz is as close as we are ever going to get to him.

No we all understand what disingenuous means.

You will be very happy once President Trump takes office and I would even go so far as to say you will be on the bandwagon as soon as he is nominated and out there taking it to Killary. :-)
