The Cruz v. Trump Rumble Is Coming Tonight
Red State ^ | 12/15/2015 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 12/15/2015 7:55:24 AM PST by conservativejoy

At long last, the battle between Cruz and Trump has been joined. Trump's remarks on Cruz have made national news, and both Limbaugh and Levin have called out Trump. There's no way the moderators of tonight's debate can let this incident pass without remarking on it. Always before, Trump and Cruz have avoided coming to blows because both were mutually agreeable to it.

Now, it seems like that is no longer the case for Trump. And even if his remark may have been off the cuff (as I somewhat expect that it was) and that he probably genuinely feels no personal animus towards Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%, Donald Trump cannot apologize. For one thing, I think he might be physically incapable of saying the words, "I'm sorry." As in, he suffers from a rare and debilitating throat condition that affects him in exactly one way , inability to form the words "I'm" and "sorry" in that order.

For another thing, part of Trump's brand is built on the idea that he is a guy who does not apologize, or admit error, or appear contrite for any reason. If he refused to apologize for mocking a disabled guy , and was praised by his followers for it , how can he apologize for unintentionally besmirching the political reputation of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%?

For Cruz, this then becomes a case of him being in a war, whether he knows it or not. The Donald cannot back down, and thus far has had no reason to. Everyone he has taken on the GOP field has ultimately faded, with the exception of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 94%, who at least has been kept at bay. Trump has no reason to think that tussling with Cruz will end any differently; although the reaction of Limbaugh and Levin may indicate that he may have misread the playing field in that respect.

That does not necessarily mean that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% will respond in kind; in fact, I rather suspect he won’t. Cruz might well go on saying that he thinks The Donald is great, and awesome, and the best think that’s ever happened to America, even while Trump is literally spitting in his face.

However, that in and of itself does not indicating that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% is not fighting; rather, it indicates that he is fighting in essentially the same manner as Ghandi, and hoping to win by roughly the same means.

But one way or another, the confrontation is coming. Trump realizes that he cannot win the nomination with just the ~30% that he has, and the amount that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% is consolidating against him has reached the point of presenting a genuine threat to Trump. Unlike Carson, Trump knows better than to expect that Cruz will be undone on his own through being unprepared or ill-equipped to handle hostile questioning.

Sooner or later it had to happen, and Trump is dictating that it will happen now.

.

“All” great leaders must have the capacity of listen to “genuinely” good advice ...

Rush and Mark Levin are trying to HELP Donald Trump ...

THIS EPISODE is the “first” real character test for Donald Trump the candidate ...

I pray to God that Donald Trump passes the test ...

Donald Trump needs to apologize to Ted Cruz and Scalia ... and THEN reap INCREDIBLE political rewards ...

Period.

.

I hope Cruz and Trump refuse to let the drive-by media dictate to them. Fight the real enemy: the drive-by media and the GOP-E, especially John Ellis Bush and Aqualad.

Rush and Mark Levin

You should lump Beck in there too, they are all the same and support the same establishment candidate.

I think if Cruz doesn’t respond, and Donald doesn’t attack...there cannot be a battle.

I really think Cruz’s strategy is to take the punches and appear to the be the “grown up” without responding.

If he responds, it becomes a pissing match and both lose.

There they go again, the leftist media twisting news beyond the realm of reality.

What the media wants:

If they are smart, and they are...What should happen:

No rumble; no apology.

Watching Trump in Vegas last night, it is clear that he is intent on becoming president to
stop the plunder and desecration of the Republic. He'll roll right past this media sideshow.

Doubt a Cruz vs. Trump bout tonight. No, instead it will be everyone else taking on Cruz. My guess is everyone will avoid Trump as they’d have to disagree with his call to halt Muslims coming into the US, which puts them aligned with Obama, Clinton, and others against 60% of the public that agrees with Trump. Cruz is safer and easier target. Cruz steps up to this challenge or loses. My guess is he loses.

Trump will manage to worm his way out of it. I don’t see any animosity between Trump and Cruz, that the Media is trying to push so hard. The more bad attention given to Cruz and Trump the less will be directed at Hillary. Then again, who in the Media would want to attract Hillary to any scrutiny?

I think whatever occurs, Cruz will direct the attack towards the Democrats and Trump will follow.

First of all I don’t think Trump should apologize. Scalia doesn’t care and he didn’t say anything about Cruz except the word maniac that Cruz didn’t say about him first.

The questions tonight will be:

Senator Cruz, you said in an illegally taped meeting that you don’t think Trump has the temperament or judgement to be President. Can you expand on that.

Mr. Trump, you called Senator Cruz a maniac. Said he can’t reach across the aisle to get things done (oh yeah, they’ve heard Rush and know this is anti-conservative as it gets) So how will you reach across the aisle?

Mr. Trump, Senator Cruz is creaming you in Iowa and nipping at your heels everywhere else. How do you explain that?

etc.
