Donald Trump says Justice Antonin Scalia's comments about black students performing better in "slower-track" universities are "very tough" to African-Americans.
"I thought it was very tough to the African-American community, actually," Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper in an interview that aired Sunday on "State of the Union."
"I don't like what he said," Trump added. "No, I don't like what he said. I heard him, I was like, 'Let me read it again' because I actually saw it in print, and I'm going -- I read a lot of stuff -- and I'm going, 'Whoa!' "

But those comments will get no coverage and his comments about Scalia ‘being a racist’ will be repeated by the left forever now.
It his carelessness blundering about and casting aspersions on conservative leaders.
Four years ago, some here warned about playing games with candidates. Those games resulted in THE most liberal ‘Republican” in the history of the GOP getting nominated. That is a fact. That man lost and drove the party hard left.
The day after the great fail, I had a conversation with another Freeper that in the 16 cycle, so called ‘Conservatives’ would shun the most conservative guy running and choose instead, someone else, all while screaming what a conservative thing it was to do. That happened exactly as predicted.
People did not listen then and they will not now. The result will again be the most conservative person NOT getting the nod and lots of ‘conservatives’ upset with the result when the words they hear do not equal the actions they see.
I think Donald may have misinterpreted Scalia (or I did). I thought Scalia pretty much said it didn’t make sense to push them into more rigorous regimens by virtue of their skin color because some folks would perform better (be better served) in less rigorous environments.
Trump imploding.
Right, but Trump’s agressiveness regarding a key justice [we just barely have representation in SCOTUS] ... very troubling to me.
It’s the truth, the ones given a boost into USC often have had to drop out and then they are drop outs instead of State College graduates.
Same for the unprepared white ones on a sports scholarship.
“The press is having a field day distorting Scaliaâs comments.”
I’m not surprised. A good thing Scalia’s research was sound. Even with that, it might take talk radio to save his gavel.
My belief is the smugness is based on the knowledge that they’ve been exempted from all standards of responsibility and accountability in an effort to atone for something that ended over 150 years ago.
He said he read it several times. Either he is a liar or he is an idiot.
Pardon me, Donald. How can you object to what Justice Scalia said if it is a.) politically incorrect yet b.) the truth? Isn't that exactly the act that you're selling?
Trump previously said he was "fine with affirmative action" on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Proving yet again that, while he may say some conservative things, Trump is not a conservative.
Trump, of all people, should be wary of liberal trolling.
This doesn’t mean no blacks can qualify and thrive at top rate institutions, it simply means that you are doing them no favors by admitting them only because they are black knowing that they will wash out. Where if they had gone to a more appropriate institution they could have done well.
++++
I agree. And I would add that WE NEED THEM TO DO WELL. The Dems, OTOH, need them to fail. If the blacks have an inherent intellectual problem compared to whites and Asians I would be surprised. But there is no doubt that they have, on the average, a huge cultural problem. They need to deal with that. Only they can deal with that. And we need them to do so.
“He was right on substance but articulated very poorly.”
Are you quite certain of that? What articulation was very poor? Remember, he’s a judge, not a politician.
Here’s another thing — Scalia is not a young man. What if this leads to so much controversy that he suffers a stroke or heart attack?
Conservative, patriotic influence in the SCOTUS is FRAGILE, paper-thin. It’s really absurd, but here we are.
“He was asking rhetorical questions to allow the opposing party to respond.”
That would make this REALLY bad for Trump. Ouch!
Here’s Cruz’s chance to nail Trump’s hide to the wall.
Agreed. The simple fact remains that we can’t call ourselves conservatives if we’re going to pay lip service to principle for three years and abandon it in the fourth for whatever shiny, loud thing pops up.
We’ve hoped and prayed for a solid Constitutional conservative. Remember how excited the forum was for so long, anticipating Cruz would run for president? Well, it happened. And some of us promptly threw him aside for a liberal celebrity.
If we don’t wake up, we will have a disaster on our hands, and we will deserve everything we get.
I recommend we all pray for Scalia’s health.
I am also concerned about Scalia’s health. He’s not young. If the media goes nuts â that could lead to a stroke or heart attack.
He expects his philisophic opponents to bash him, but a wildly popular Republican presidential frontrunner? Something like this can cause tremendous stress. I know that kind of stress first hand, and I was a young man in a little resaurant at the time.
And if his health suffers over some idiotic thing, it would be tragic! And Obama gets to appoint yet another liberal activist to the bench.
