Donald Trump’s ‘Clarification’ of His Muslim Ban Proposal is Enough to Make Anyone Do a Double-take
Donald Trump recently qualified his recent proposal to temporarily freeze Muslim entry into the United States pending further evaluation of our visa and immigration processes. Trump’s language was quite striking.
“It’s not about religion. This is about safety,†Trump said. “This has nothing to do with religion. It’s about safety.â€
The Republican presidential candidate’s comments were made on ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Michael.â€
If the United States temporarily blocked everyone professing the Islamic faith from entering the nation, even on national security grounds, then it is unclear how the issue isn’t related to religion. Nonetheless, the interview moved on.
Trump also pushed back against a suggestion made by co-host Michael Strahan that he was merely saying “outrageous†things to get attention.
“No, no, not to be outrageous. Look, we have a problem in this country,†Trump replied, and mentioned the 9/11 attacks and San Bernardino shooting in California.
“Frankly, a lot of people knew that was going to happen,†Trump stated. “A lot of people knew he had those guns and the rifles and the bombs, bombs all over the apartment.â€
“You look at what went on in Paris. We have tremendous problems, it’s getting worse and worse and those problems are coming from a certain sector,†Trump said.
“Our country has to get its act together,†Trump said. “We need safety.â€

His supporters heard him loud and clear, there was no mistaking in what he said..... But when it is something that makes Trump look bad, they question whether he actually said it.

What’s that tell you? They’re hearing the anti-U. S. rhetoric in their meeings, and they damn well know he’s spot on.

instead of saying “ban all muslims” it would’ve been better to say we need to halt immigration from hostile countries. countries with terrorist hotbeds and those that majorities that preach hate against the west and America. it would just as effective
Am I reading that right? This is an MSNBC poll and 96% of African Americans agree with Trump? Meaning they agree he hasn’t gone too far?
Then again, it might not be you who understands.
Here’s how it works, Trump makes a common sense suggestion like “Ban Muslims from entering the US until our leaders can figure out what is going on.” Any normal person realizes he means citizens of other countries who want to come is as immigrants or visitors.
Then someone says, well then he wants to ban American Muslims from who go out of the country. He wants to ban American Muslims serving in the military from coming home.
The media and other Trump critics (including some on FR with TDS) repeat this endlessly.
Finally Trump goes on TV and says, or course that’s not what I meant.
Headline: Trump (”walks back”, “clarifies”, “backs off” etc.) From His Ban on Muslims”.
BTW what is going on with all the crazy symbols in the article posts? Is that just my browser? Because I’m getting the same thing with books in Kindle.
But we also, however, don't need Muslims born in Britain, India, Canada, or France, etc. So let's be direct in describing the problem, it's not the piece of dirt folks are from, it's the dirt in the heads, i.e. Islam.
Heck we don't need Muslims born in the USA (like all three Garland, TX jihadists), but we're stuck with them.
