Donald Trump’s ‘Clarification’ of His Muslim Ban Proposal is Enough to Make Anyone Do a Double-take
Donald Trump recently qualified his recent proposal to temporarily freeze Muslim entry into the United States pending further evaluation of our visa and immigration processes. Trump’s language was quite striking.
“It’s not about religion. This is about safety,†Trump said. “This has nothing to do with religion. It’s about safety.â€
The Republican presidential candidate’s comments were made on ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Michael.â€
If the United States temporarily blocked everyone professing the Islamic faith from entering the nation, even on national security grounds, then it is unclear how the issue isn’t related to religion. Nonetheless, the interview moved on.
Trump also pushed back against a suggestion made by co-host Michael Strahan that he was merely saying “outrageous†things to get attention.
“No, no, not to be outrageous. Look, we have a problem in this country,†Trump replied, and mentioned the 9/11 attacks and San Bernardino shooting in California.
“Frankly, a lot of people knew that was going to happen,†Trump stated. “A lot of people knew he had those guns and the rifles and the bombs, bombs all over the apartment.â€
“You look at what went on in Paris. We have tremendous problems, it’s getting worse and worse and those problems are coming from a certain sector,†Trump said.
“Our country has to get its act together,†Trump said. “We need safety.â€

Only a fool, utterly devoid of any sense of world history, would consider Islam a religion.

It’s not about banning people for religious reasons (EVEN THOUGH in the case of islam, we perhaps SHOULD make an exception being that Islam calls for our destruction)- This is about banning people from terrorist nations and from nations with hateful ideology

Completely agree. The Nazis and Communists are kicking themselves for not thinking of this. Think what they could have accomplished if they had wrapped their ideology in a cloak of religion.

This is clearly a reiteration.
We do not need to ban them for religious reasons. We can, instead, ban them because ALL muslims believe that all governments must come under sharia law.
That makes them all traitors to the constitution.
Not my problem that they have a supremacist political system baked into their religion. It is political side we can focus on - not the religious.
They should be banned, deported and if that doesn’t work - shot on sight.
The Nazis did try that, they took over churches in Germany, replaced the crosses with swastikas, and replaced the Bibles with copies of “Mein Kampf”.
Modern neo-nazis also try this occasionally, especially in the U.S., because they want the extra protections and tax benefits. Two notable groups are “Church of the Creator” (they are actually quite atheistic, but call themselves a church), and the Christian Identity/Aryan Nations movement, who reinterpret the Bible with a racial agenda.
The commies are probably a bit too hostile to religion to even think of trying it, luckily.
