What an interesting position I find myself in. I uninvited Donald Trump from the RedState Gathering and spent nearly a month unable to let my kids check our mailbox at home for fear of them finding God knows what.
And while I agree with my friend Russell Moore on the merits of Donald Trump's proposal to bar muslims from entering the United States, including muslim America citizens currently outside the country, I feel compelled to defend Donald Trump from the reaction to his proposal by many of my other friends.
The rush to condemn Donald Trump feels more like a "finally we can take him out" surge than a serious consideration of his proposal. You may very well find his proposal unserious, but there are a few million Americans who do not. They are not laboring under distinctions of constitutionalism and values. They see an American President willing to curtail the second amendment without due process and have responded in kind.
For the entirety of the 2016 election season so far, Donald Trump has given voice to a growing segment of the American population who feels completely ignored by Washington politicians of both parties and who think the country is deteriorating with both the knowledge and consent of Washington politicians from both parties. The only reason issues like immigration are being discussed right now is because Trump forced them to be discussed.

I guess I’m finding how this works... seeing who thought they ran the country... and maybe not caring enough until obama came on the scene. I had a fit when bill clinton won... that was a shock.. but when obama won, I saw the evil and I could not imagine our country, with the pictures of all our Presidents in a row... having one with the name Hussein Barack Obama. In history to come it sounded like our country had been taken over.. and then I found out it WAS taken over.
They really do have their pants in a wad over Trump and losing their control. We the people.. we tried to tell you, GOP... you would not listen
That’s the first thing I thought, too.
We know it was all the anti-Trump midgets in the gop who are piling on with their dem buddies.
I hope that Trump remains strong, doesn’t back down, and survives the storm.
Fat sweaty Erik is trying to suck up to Trump voters. Too late.
Not for nor against Trump, but on this issue he needs to come out and say something like “The GOP can keep their heads firmly implanted in their butts, with their fingers shoved I n their ears- but we’ve got a serious problem folks- and the fact that the republicans are criticizing my suggestion show that they are not ready to run this country In a manner that will keep us all safe”
This guy finally gets it.
Wonder if he ever reflects on how behind the curve he allowed himself to get.
Someone she inform this ignorant Erickson that the President has the ability to shut down any immigration he or she sees fit to shut down under 8 USC 1182.
The actual DEBATE is about whether the US needs a legal test for what constitutes a legitimate religion under 1A.
The Constitution isn’t a suicide pact. Islam suffers on two points as to whether it constitutes a religion.
1. Apostasy is not allowed
2. Sharia is an alternative justice system in competition with the US justice system.
A legitimate religion imposes a moral code, enforced by ones own conscience. Islam’s sharia code is considered a legal code that applies to anyone living in a muslim doeminated society enforced by both clerical and governmental officials.
It doesn’t pass the test. As such, 1A doesn’t apply. Further to that, there are all kinds of legal tools that can now be brought to bear on the issue of mosques funding, fomenting, and facilitating armed jihad in the USA (and abroad).
Having this discussion would put the USA in the lead again, and it would provide international law the legal tools necessary to intervene in the affairs of regions afflicted by islam.
It would also improve on how we look at the separation of church and state. Praying in class wouldn’t be a problem. Including islam in a discussion of comparative religions would be. Teachers proselytizing for Christ in class would be a problem. Teachers leading a voluntary prayer on the 50 yard line wouldn’t be a problem.
A test on what constitutes a legitimate religion would return rationality to the manner in which government and religion interweave themselves in pursuit of the same goal - a more perfect union.
“Erickson lost a lot when he went against Trump. He is begging back into the Trump tent!”
That’s for sure. He must realize that his antics didn’t hurt Trump at all. He’s signaling this won’t hurt Trump either.
“Erick Erickson trying to weasel his way back. What happened to the guy who said he wouldnât let his wife and daughter in the same room with Donald Trump?”
He evidently has a strong imagination, as he felt it necessary to still include this:
“I uninvited Donald Trump from the RedState Gathering and spent nearly a month unable to let my kids check our mailbox at home for fear of them finding God knows what.”
For months, the Beltway cognoscenti were confidently predicting that Trump would eventually do or say something that would knock him out of contention and that the American public would tire of him and move their support to an establishment candidate as they always have done in the past.
Now that we are practically on the eve of the primaries and Trump is still way ahead, there is growing concern that Trump might actually win this thing. So you will see an all-out effort over this latest "controversy" with Trump to finally knock him out. For time is running short and desperation is setting in.
I don't know if everybody appreciates just how frightened the Beltway establishment is of Donald Trump. They are like teenagers who have had the house to themselves while the parents were away on vacation. Now they suddenly learn that their parents are at the airport and the house is a disaster from all the parties they threw in the meantime.
He may be hateful, but he is not stupid
Clinton tweeted that Trumpâs proposal was âreprehensible, prejudiced and divisive.â Huma Abedin, Clintonâs campaign vice-chairwoman, sent out an e-mail to Clinton supporters with the subject matter â âIâm a proud Muslim.â
âUnfortunately, Trump is leaning into the kind of fear of progress that very well could help him win the nomination,â Abedin wrote. âWe have to be ready to stop him.â

Erick Erickson TRANSLATION: “ I F’ing give up!! “
“Erickson lost a lot when he went against Trump. He is begging back into the Trump tent!”
NAILED.
Hey Harleylady,
GO.TRUMP.GO...HE’S ALREADY AT THE WHITE HOUSE, WAITING FOR HIS OATH OF OFFICE!!!
Like I have said before he is not perfect(TRUMPSTER).
And after Zero has done SO much damage can we Conservatives please stop loving the darn(not my first choice of words) establishment so freaking much??? The only one that stands out is Cruz and I think he and Trump have shown that they can be congenial to each other. We need to have some unity. You know the libtards would run over their own children to stay true to their message.
Battleground state vote fraud can still stop him quite effectively. Obama clearly thinks the fix is in.
Erickson thinks so little of the po folks in flyover country that he thinks all will forget his RINO true colors as he attempts to reinvent himself as a genuine conservative when in reality he’s vying for a position as a GOPe mole inside the outsider camp.
Sorry....having a hard time reading your post.
Bottom line (no pun intended towards Hellary :) is that I don’t really give a flip what she or her huma or CNN have to say about Trump. I already know all I need to know about that group.
I would like to see a full 20 year moratorium on all immigration in order to allow those who are here to assimilate to our culture instead of having us assimilate to theirs.
“spent nearly a month unable to let my kids check our mailbox at home for fear of them finding God knows what. “
So it’s still all about THE ERIK, what an ego!
He lost me with the UN-INVITE!
