What an interesting position I find myself in. I uninvited Donald Trump from the RedState Gathering and spent nearly a month unable to let my kids check our mailbox at home for fear of them finding God knows what.
And while I agree with my friend Russell Moore on the merits of Donald Trump's proposal to bar muslims from entering the United States, including muslim America citizens currently outside the country, I feel compelled to defend Donald Trump from the reaction to his proposal by many of my other friends.
The rush to condemn Donald Trump feels more like a "finally we can take him out" surge than a serious consideration of his proposal. You may very well find his proposal unserious, but there are a few million Americans who do not. They are not laboring under distinctions of constitutionalism and values. They see an American President willing to curtail the second amendment without due process and have responded in kind.
For the entirety of the 2016 election season so far, Donald Trump has given voice to a growing segment of the American population who feels completely ignored by Washington politicians of both parties and who think the country is deteriorating with both the knowledge and consent of Washington politicians from both parties. The only reason issues like immigration are being discussed right now is because Trump forced them to be discussed.

Trump should point out that it is perfectly legal for a president to designate whole classes of people as being ineligible for immigration. Naturalized citizens who join terrorist organizations within 5 years of their naturalization can also have their citizenship revoked. Those who are only here as aliens, and are not citizens can be deported. He should start saying that as well.
Well, I have to add my thoughts on Erik Erickson... he is from my area.. and he is on the radio after Hannity... a time when I am driving home. Just a few months ago, he was on a tear about mosques. He said we are a nation of freedom and freedom of worship.. and he loudly proclaimed anyone who was against a mosque being built, was not a Christian. Christians had to be loving and allowing other religions their freedom of worship. He was on this subject for at least half an hour...
I had to finally turn him off.. I SO disagreed with him.
Erickson lost a lot when he went against Trump. He is begging back into the Trump tent!

I am 4 square behind Trump, and more so with each passing day.
He doesn’t cower. I heard him being interviewed and they were condemning the Japanese enternment. Good, God. Do they not understand the threat in this country posed by the Japanese? FDR did not hesitate.
Trump is four steps ahead. All it will take is for just one more San Bernadino size terror act and the man is all but sworn in.
Nothing is going to stop this man from the presidency.
