It's Time for a Grown-Up Alternative to Trump's Crude Muslim-Immigration Proposal
National Review ^ | December 8, 2015 | Mark Krikorian

Donald Trump has again succeeded in setting the terms of political debate, this time by calling for a temporary halt to the admission of all Muslims from abroad, whether as immigrants or as visitors ("nonimmigrants" being the technical term). Everyone's outraged, of course, but this is a topic that needs to be addressed head-on.

First of all, it's important to underline that Congress can exclude or admit any foreigner it wants, for any reason or no reason. Non-Americans have no constitutional right to travel to the United States and no constitutional due-process rights to challenge exclusion; as the Supreme Court has written multiple times, "Whatever the procedure authorized by Congress is, it is due process as far as an alien denied entry is concerned." What's more, while the president doesn't have the authority that Obama has claimed, to let in anyone he wants for any reason (under the guise of "parole"), he does have the statutory authority to keep anyone out, for any reason he thinks best.

...

[L]arge Muslim populations, continually refreshed by ongoing mass immigration, are a problem. Polling suggests between a quarter and a third are not attached to the principles of the Constitution, supporting things such as sharia law over U.S. law and the use of violence against those who insult Islam. Nor is this merely hypothetical; Muslims account for only about 1 percent of the U.S. population but account for about half of terrorist attacks since 9/11. That means Muslims in the United States are about 5,000 percent more likely to commit terrorist attacks than non-Muslims.

The Muslim President of Turkey (Erdogan) said it himself:

“There is no extreme Islam, there is only Islam”

The difference between a radical Muslim and a ‘moderate’ Muslim is that the radical Muslim will cut your head off with a rusty blade, the moderate Muslim will offer to just restrain you while the decapitation takes place.

It’s simple, rational, and most importantly it would work.

Inviting them in and coddling them and being sensitive to their feelings while they butcher us, has not.

GO TRUMP.

The logical extension of this kind of policy is simple, and should have some excellent unintended (or maybe intended) consequences.

One thing it does is put the muzzies on notice as follows: This will not happen here. Not now. Not ever.

It's possible the decent ones might even wake up and stop pretending they can't stop this insanity either. If an announcement such as this doesn't, not much else will.

It says to the "moderates": Reform or be kicked out.

It says to the Jihadis: Stop or be killed. When he says he will go after their families, they understand that.

All in all, what he's done is once again to awaken everyone to the consequences of PC and not calling evil, well.....evil. Imagine that.

Already people don’t like the TSA or things like bulk collection. You’d have to ramp those kinds of things considerably.

It's Time for a Grown-Up Alternative to Trump's Crude Muslim-Immigration Proposal

There aren't any alternatives. There are nothing but democrats in the GOP primary...except Trump and Cruz.

He is actually right.

“The narrowest solution would be to restore the principle of “ideological exclusion” to U.S. immigration law”

This is codified in U.S. code and would “merely” be enforced.

Trump is right on.
We do not know who is coming.
We do not know if they even want to immigrate.

We sure as heck are letting people in that are contributing nothing in the way of skills we need.

I like NZ’s points-based scoring of potential immigrants:

Needed skills
English language proficiency
Background check
Age
Etc.

Our approach: give us 50 random Somalians, 50 random Egyptians...

“8 USC 1182 allows the president to bar access to the US any group he wants to without going to Congress. Obama can do this with a stroke of the pen, legally.”

Obama has already been doing this. He allows Muzzie refugees in by huge numbers, and doesn’t let in any Christian refugees. And he is doing this because of their religion. Just like Trump wants to do, only barring Muzzies instead because of their barbaric Islamic religion.

Trump's proposal of a ban on all muslims entering the US is almost, but not quite, enough to cause me to switch my support from Cruz to Trump.

No foreigner has a right to enter our country for any reason or no reason at all. I'm not in favor of banning all foreigners from immigrating here, just the Islamics who have sworn to kill any and all people who won't convert to their Satanic religion, and that includes most muslims.

There may be some muslims who don't believe in killing all non-muslims who won't accept their Satanic religion, but since we can't know which ones do or don't none should be allowed to come here. Just my opinion, but I think I'm right.

We’ve got Yeb Bush for that.

Straight out of the horse's mouth, proof enough.

an aside: his name Erdogan, I thought was a spoof. It sounded like some drug. lol

I see nothing in Trump's proposal to indicate that its other than a grown up plan.

Probably not good idea to condescend to the base (no matter how well intentioned), given their obvious mood.

Great points all!

As far as I know, only citizens have Constitutional rights. These imported terrorists are NOT citizens. And never should be.
