URGENT - Paul Ryan: Trump comments not 'who we are as a party'
KSPR 33 ^ | December 8, 2015

(CNN) -- House Speaker Paul Ryan sharply condemned Donald Trump, his party's front-runner presidential candidate, on Tuesday, following Trump's call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. Ryan told members of his party at a closed door meeting that Trump's comments are "not who we are as a party" and violate the Constitution, according to Republican Rep. Matt Salmon, who attended the gathering.

And if they choose No Borders Ryan as their target that at least will be a silver lining.

From a related thread:

The Chinese Exclusion Act was a United States federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. It was one of the most significant restrictions on free immigration in US history, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers. The act followed the Angell Treaty of 1880, a set of revisions to the US-China Burlingame Treaty of 1868 that allowed the US to suspend Chinese immigration. The act was initially intended to last for 10 years, but was renewed in 1892 and made permanent in 1902. The Chinese Exclusion Act was the first law implemented to prevent a specific ethnic group from immigrating to the United States. It was repealed by the Magnuson Act on December 17, 1943.
**********
It is not well-known now, but as of 1878 (ref: American Popular Dictionary, 1879) there were 433,000,000 in China (as compared to 199,000,000 in British India, 72,000,000 in the Russian Empire, and 33,000,000 in the United States). The Chinese Exclusion Act might sound like some sort of discrimination until you realize that deciding whom to admit into your country is quite literally a question of whether you even have a country afterwards. China was a massive population, as is Islam today (1,200,000,000). Anyone who denies the obvious in favor of some fear of "discrimination against Islam" is a fool.

Trump, Cruz, Sessions, Palin, and a few others should break off. I refuse to support the GOP as it currently stands. I have no hope that they will be able to reform or change it.

Its time to start over.

Paul Ryan is just wrong about this. He and guys like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio don’t realize that Americans are severely fed up with the politically correct positions like pandering to Muslims who are less than 1% of the US population. Speaker Ryan should double down on prohibiting refugees from entering the country. We don’t need’em and we don’t want’em!

URGENT - We, the GOPe, are losers and are desperate! We’re attacking the winner but he’s not falling over! Help! The train is coming and we’ve tied ourselves to the tracks!

Speaker Ryan, you still cling to the same old, same old losing gOpee tactics and strategies. Trump is cleaning your clock.

He has a strategy. The Art of the Deal. Say something completely outrageous and you will move the discussion in the right direction. Time after time. Issue after issue. Here is FReeper LS's description of this from an earlier thread ....

Was thinking of this with the "Muslims cheering" story: What Trump does with everything he engages in is move the dialogue toward his direction, sometimes a lot.

So, immediately after he says there were "thousands" of Muslims cheering in NJ, the drive-bys quickly write stories that he was wrong. That there were no Muslims cheering. But then one by one, people begin to tell their own stories and these start to leak out so that the fall back is, "Well, there weren't 'thousands.' Maybe a few." More keep leaking out. Meanwhile what major THEME has been produced? Not that "Trump lied." Rather, "Muslims cheered 9/11." Whether it was "thousands" or "hundreds," it doesn't look good

Trump wins. Dems lose. Again.

I know about the know nothing’s of the 1840’s but I always thought there ideals morph with into the Wide Awakes of the 1850’s and 1860’s.

Mark Kriorian has always tried to play the safe middle ground that doesn’t scare the ruling class.

He’s the housebroken immigration activist that gets invited to GOPe cocktail parties. An immigration version of “conservatives” like David Brooks.

Does Ryan know how unpopular the GOP Congress is right now?

I saw 62% want the same as Trump a suspension of Muslim immigration

Ryan is proving to be a disappointment. I had high hopes for him due to his economic advocacy for my generation.

End the visa programs for at least five years. There isn't a need for them and we have to deal with the people here wishing to do the US harm.
