I don't know the law in NJ, as far as recording someone...in Alabama, it is legal as long as one person gives permission.
I took down two county commissioners by writing up a permission form for myself and giving myself permission to do so.
I hate these stinking political dipshites, with their petty little fiefdoms and the feeling they have that they are powerful.
I'm of an age now to where the fight is more than I'm willing to invest in, but I'm for damn sure mentoring several younger guys in my area.
The answer may well be a midnight visit with some tar, feathers and a rail, but we can also take them down by confronting them and then displaying it all over the internet.
I did not have the help of the internet during my crusading days.
C'mon folks, start emailing this fool and his superiors, write a letter, write a tweet, put something on facebook, but they MUST BE CONFRONTED!
Otherwise, we end up with the continued oppression, approved by Barky and that witch Valerie Jarret, with Loretta Lynch in direct support.

As a life-long resident of NJ (yes, I would appreciate your condolences!), I can promise you that doing that would not end well for you, nor would it accomplish any of what you wanted.
