The GOP really might nominate Donald Trump. That would be a disaster.
MSN News ^ | December 6, 2015 | Edward Morrissey

Political analysts and pundits have scratched their heads so much over the phenomenal staying power of Donald Trump that they risk scraping through to the bone. Not only has Trump managed to defy expectations that either he would get bored and bail out of the presidential race, or that voters would tire of his shtick and jump off the bandwagon, but the billionaire continues to lead in almost every national poll, as well as in Iowa and New Hampshire. In the Granite State, Trump's lead has been in double digits in all but four polls since Labor Day, the point on the calendar when most prognosticators expected voters to look more seriously at traditional candidates.

According to the author, all the "experts" in the MSM just can't figure out why Trump is leading. They all predicted he would have collapsed by now. The can't understand why they have been so wrong.

But they also say they that Trump will be a disaster for the Republicans and if nominated Trump he will lose. And they say the media will do everything they can to cause Trump to lose. They also say Trump is just like Romney.

The final sentence:

"if Republicans fail, and Trump succeeds, the same electorate that couldn't find a connection to Romney will go right back to choosing continuity in November 2016, and keep the Republicans out of the White House for another four years."

The same electorate that is driving Trump's popularity now are going to "choose continuity" rather than vote for him?

Romney didn't win, did he? And the reason was that he did not run as conservative. When the voters' choice is between socialism implemented quickly and socialism implemented in a slower, gentler manner, they really don't have much to vote for. That's why so many stayed home on the last election. Obama was imminently beatable in the last election, had a real conservative run against him.

What part of telling the truth don't they understand ?

Trump is the ONLY politician (or real estate mogul) I've heard in the last 10 years that, ... when they say, "The American people ... say, want, believe ______ (fill in the blank) ..."

Actually IS remarking WHAT The American People REALLY ARE ... saying, thinking, believing, wanting .... etc.

Guess what?

I despise all the pundits who despise Mr. Trump.

I also despise all members of the GOPe.

I despise all the whining critics of Mr. Trump, too.

I particularly despise Stephen Hayes, Megyn Kelly and the other Fox News few who try to belittle Mr. Trump because he won’t give them the time of day.

ALL can go to Hell and the sooner the better.

If Trump would be a disaster if nominated then Morrissey and his ilk should be celebrating. There isn’t any chance that Morrissey would ever vote for a Republican, no matter who it is. These leftists are scared witless that he will be the GOP nominee so they write these insane articles trying to scare voters into backing a weak candidate that the media and the Dems can walk all over. It ain’t gonna work...

I’m not even a Donald Trump fan, but it’s obvious to me that a huge portion of the Republican base is sick and tired of the big-government globalists who have been running the GOP for years.

Ed pretty much nailed how I think. The thought of such a divisive president on top of bambi is too much. He may be worse than bambi at belittling people on a personal level. I do think his mouth will take him out when the voting starts.

Like Newt Gingrich...? Sorry, Gingrich wouldn’t have improved Romney’s EV count...and it’s all about the EV’s, which many people seem to forget...

Early prediction: Clinton 303 EV’s, pubbie nominee 235...hey, it’s progress, they pick up Florida this go round...

I think Trump would win in a landslide.

But for argument’s sake, let’s say the GOPe backstabs him and he loses in a landslide and takes the down the entire GOP down ballot with him. Would that be so bad? It would flush out the entire RINO and GOPe garbage that is currently polluting the system. That would be great!

A win-win situation as I see it.

Since when has the MSM cared what Republicans did, unless it derails their social engineering agenda.

It’s not hard to figure out why Trump’s numbers go up.
The GOP has gone to far to the left and would not listen to their base for the past 2 elections
The anger is wider and more than they think and the reason they don’t know, is they still are not listening to their base. For some reason, we are not worthy of being heard.

The media and congress has protected obama and let him do whatever he pleases and the constitution be damned.
We see our country being destroyed.. why can’t congress?
We’ve spent 7+ years with the worst president in history becoming a dictator, with his stroke of the pen and congress doing nothing.
The Supreme Court has failed us.
Congress has failed us.
The media sides with the enemy.
There was no other avenue to save our country from all who were in charge.
And... then... along came Donald Trump. He said what we’ve been saying. He loves the country. He is not owned by any lobbyists or such. He isn’t afraid of the media nor the GOP. And the more the media or the GOP criticizes him, the more we support him. They say worse things about Trump than they do about obama.. thus the anger just grows... They can’t stop him and they can’t stand it.
I love it... it’s due us... go ahead and have their fits.. their reign of disaster is coming to an end. If you destroy Trump, you destroy any chance of having a republican President.

“The thought of such a divisive president on top of bambi is too much”

The MSM and the Republican establishment said that Ronald Reagan was unelectable because he was too divisive.

The MSM said Trump would have imploded by now. They have written article after article attacking him but it has not worked. People are growing sick and tired of the "Trump is divisive" message continually parroted by the MSM.

It is the media people are tired of. Not Trump.
