Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday blasted the New York Daily News for "prayer shaming" and scoffed at The New York Times for a front page editorial on gun control.
During a speech in Iowa, the GOP presidential candidate called out the newspapers for their front pages following the shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., that left 14 dead and dozens wounded, and which is now being investigated as terrorism.
"The left's immediate reaction to radical Islamic terrorists, like kittens with their eyes closed, is not to go after the bad guys, but immediately to try to seize the guns of law abiding citizens," Cruz said.
The New York Daily News used a headline "God isn't fixing this" after the shooting, which scolded Republicans for offering "platitudes" and prayer rather than tougher gun control.
"They've invented a new term for that, they call it now prayer shaming. Well let me tell the Democrats. Let me tell the mainstream media. Although I repeat myself, There has never been a time in the history of this country that we needed prayer more," Cruz said of the Daily News cover.
He also criticized The New York Times, which ran a front page editorial on Saturday titled "the gun epidemic" - the first time an editorial made page one since the 1920s.
"Let me tell the editors of the Times something," he said. "You don't stop the bad guys by taking away our guns. You stop the bad guys by using our guns."
NY Papers are not trying to shut down Muzzie 5x/day prayer?
I love Ted, but he shouldn’t slander kittens like that.
How on earth did he “slander” kittens”?
Comparing Leftists to kittens is a gross insult to the kitties.
Only the beginning. Criminalizing prayer is the goal.
LOL, really liked the ‘but I repeat myself’ line.
Slander a kitten?
Gut, skin, and fillet, before Wok cooking.
Great response by Mr. Cruz.
We have the rat propagandist traitors cornered in NYC. Time to take them out by declaring them seditionists. Quick trial and a guilty verdict, followed by life in prison.
It was an extension from his kitten joke.
A guy was driving on the road and saw a boy with a sign, "free kittens; they are Democrats." A few days later, he saw the same boy at the same spot on the road. This time, his sign said, "free kittens; they are Republicans." That piqued his curiosity. So he stopped and asked the boys about the switch. The boy answered, "sir, a few days ago the kittens' eyes were closed. Now, their eyes are open."
Cute! Thanks for the laugh.
Ah, I didn’t know that. Thanks!
Who else would dare?
