The Carteret County Sheriffs Office is investigating reports of suspicious activity among three individuals at two schools on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the sheriffs office, just after noon, three individuals came into the White Oak Elementary and Bogue Sound Elementary schools and were asking questions as to whether the schools were designated as crisis evacuation centers. After being requested to present identification, the individuals presented IDs that appeared to be military-style ID cards but the validity of the cards is unknown.
Law enforcement said they contacted surrounding military installations and have received no word of military personnel are conducting any exercises or security assessments in Carteret County.
The first suspect is a white male, 6-foot-0 with a thin build, dark hair and wearing a long sleeve green-stripped polo shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a light skinned non-Caucasian male, 5-foot-8 with a thin build, dark hair and wearing a plaid shirt and blue jeans. The third suspect is identified as a light skinned non-Caucasian male standing 5-foot-8 with a medium build, dark hair and wearing an orange plaid shirt and khaki pants.
All three subjects were wearing Merrell type hiking boots and were in their mid 20s in age, according to the press release. The subjects were last seen operating a newer model small 4-door hatchback crossover vehicle, possibly a Toyota Rav-4 or Dodge Journey, according to officials. The vehicle was described as silver in color and bearing out-of-state tags, possibly the Washington, D.C. area. The vehicle was last seen around 1 p.m. on Hwy. 24. It was unclear which direction they were traveling.
All county schools and law enforcement agencies with schools in their jurisdictions were notified of todays activities. The Sheriffs Office is asking for the publics help in identifying and locating the subjects for questioning in order to determine their identities and purpose for visiting the schools. If anyone has any information on these individuals please contact the Carteret County Sheriffs Office or the Carteret County Communications Center at (252) 726-1911.
Official business? Out of uniform? Age? Mid 20’s. This sounds awfully odd.
How about using the telephone next time, %$#^&** Einsteins?
I call BS.
Since when does the army send out troops in civilian clothes? And since when does the army scout public schools?
U.S. Military? Since when do you see a U.S. Military person with sideburns like the guy in the middle?
1. Because “civil affairs” is a cover name for whatever they really do.
Right you are. Just think how Hollywood heads would explode if it happened at Oscars or Grammys.
He must have joined the military in the 1960’s and forgot to get a proper haircut.
You should have seen me when I was an undercover operative. They made a movie about me entitled “Hair”.
Today it would be entitled “Chrome Dome”.
Yeah, false alert. Civilian clothes, not military haircuts, no authorization either......uh huh. surrrrre. I believe this too, thousands would not.
Yeah, how do you like those uniforms, for official business, and those military haircuts?
Found this forum, linked it below. Apparently, the three guys were found at a camp ground staying in tents. The community is very suspicious. The comments are definitely worth reading:
