Environmental negotiators meeting in Paris should strike a climate change deal to save a world "at the limits of suicide," Pope Francis said on Monday.
"I am not sure, but I can say to you 'now or never'," he told a group of reporters aboard the papal plane, en route home from Africa, according to Reuters. "Every year the problems are getting worse. We are at the limits. If I may use a strong word I would say that we are at the limits of suicide."
The comments come at the start of a United Nations-sponsored environmental summit in Paris, which nearly 150 world leaders are expected to attend.
Politicians have generally "done little" to deal with the growing problem, Francis said, according to the National Catholic Reporter.
"I am sure they have the good will to do it. And I wish that it will be so, and I pray for this," he said.

he is speaking outside his area of expertise. He might have a degree in chemistry to teach high school, but that does not make him a scientist or an expert in climate science.
And as Pope, his opinion here is not binding on Catholics.
However, with the new film coming out on pedophilia, and with the newest Vatican scandal where the whistleblowers were arrested, he wants to change the subject.
and the “social justice warriors” are kept happy: They can now preach climate science instead of iberation theology. Jesus? Who is he?
end sarcasm.

It really disturbs me, a great deal, when he mashes up/misinterprets scripture and I apparently know more than he does.

Just by being a pope means he has no grasp on theology.
Other than that he’s a nut job communist.

The Catholic Church is too important as a spiritual institution to be in the hands of this man.
How did we come to this?
To: bkopto
Not sure who His Holiness is listening to on this issue, but, fairly certain it’s not God.

I was raised Catholic, and as far as I am concerned, this crazy old man in a dress who flies around the world in a chartered Alitalia airliner, lecturing us about a problem that doesn’t even exist, should shut his pie hole.
Go back to Argentina, and take your globull warming cult with you, Francis.

... if they donât push something through, soon, they never will.
As hopeful as that might be, it is incorrect. If they don't get it through now, they will be back -- with a slightly different version under a different name. They never give up.
In the 1970s and 80s, it was global cooling that was going to do us in by the end of the century. By the 90s and 2000s, it was global warming. When they realized how ridiculous their arguments sounded, they changed in the last decade or so to climate change.
The problem is that climate has been changing every year since the Earth started spinning around the Sun.
