Israeli defense minister Moshe âBogeyâ Yaâalon confirmed Sunday that Russian military aircraft, on at least one occasion, have breached Israeli airspaceâwithout confrontation.
âWhen we understood that the Russians were planning to act inside Syria, we immediately metâalso the prime ministerâwith [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, including the [Israeli] chief of staff and the assistant chief of staffâ¦we created an open channel for coordination so as to prevent misunderstandings, because Russian planes are not trying to attack us and therefore it is not necessary to automaticallyâeven if there is a mistakeâto shoot them down,â Yaâalon said, according to the Times of Israel.
Yaâalonâs confirmation came after Amos Gilad, who leads of the Defense Ministryâs political-security division, publicly admitted that Russian aircraft operating over Syria have breached Israeli airspace more than onceâand without incident, thanks to the open channels Israel enjoys with the Russian military and President Vladimir Putin.
The admission is significant for two reasons. One is that Israel is sending a subtle rebuke to Turkey, with which its relations have deteriorated ever since the rise of Islamist president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Essentially, Israel is saying that Turkey could have avoided shooting down a Russian military jet last week, even if it had crossed into Turkish airspace (Russia says that it did not).
The other is that Israel is sending an implicit signal to the world that it is operating more independently of the U.S., and that it has forged its own relationship with Russia, though their interests are often at odds.

Unlike Turkey who is supporting ISIS.
This was the PROPER way to handle this situation.
“A short-term border violation can never be a pretext for an attack” - Turkey’s Erdogan in 2012
Yup, and making millions smuggling oil stolen by ISIS from the Syrians and selling it on the international market.
The Israelis are communicating with the Turkish military. The Islamist leader of Turkey doesn’t give a rip what Israel thinks.

“Turkey’s lawmakers voted Thursday to authorize military force against the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq, opening the door to cooperation with a U.S.-led coalition going after ISIS as its fighters laid siege to towns just south of the Turkish border.
The Turkish Parliament voted 298-98 to not only to let the country’s military leave its borders to go after ISIS and other terror groups, but also allow foreign troops to launch operations from Turkey. The authorization takes effect Saturday.
It is a big shift for Turkey, a NATO member, which until now offered only tacit support to a U.S.-led coalition of about 40 nations going after ISIS in Iraq and Syria in various capacities.
The mood of Turkey’s leaders changed in recent days, with ISIS on the nation’s doorstep and tens of thousands fleeing across its border. The Prime Minister asked Parliament to consider military action this week, submitting a motion declaring that Turkey was seriously threatened by the chaos in Syria and Iraq, where ISIS has captured land and is trying to establish an Islamic caliphate.”

Actually, this seems to be the usual tactic of the Putin military.
Russian bombers have been buzzing Alaska for quite some time. As soon as we challenge them, they turn and run away.

In a phone interview with CNN Tuesday evening, Trump claimed that there's "something in the Iran deal" that "people don't understand" saying if someone attacks Iran, "we have to come to their defense."
"Does that include Israel?" Trump asked. "And most people say yes, they don't have an exclusion for Israel. So if Israel attacks Iran, according to that deal, I believe, the way it reads, unless they have a codicil or they have something to it, that we have to fight with Iran against Israel." ..."
Trump was most probably referring to language highlighted by the opponents of the deal. On page 142, the deal includes a clause that states, "Co-operation through training and workshops to strengthen Iran's ability to protect against, and respond to nuclear security threats, including sabotage, as well as to enable effective and sustainable nuclear security and physical protection systems."
Washington-based Center for Security Policy asserted that Annex III appears "to commit the United States and other world powers to the defense of Iran's nuclear program."

Give the Russians a break. At best their aircraft are using GLONASS for navigation, and at worse they’re using inertial navigation or even dead reckoning. They may drift a mile or two over a line on a map, simply because that’s about as precise their navigational systems are.
Isreal is wise in this, Putin will remember this action.
“They may drift a mile or two over a line on a map, simply because thatâs about as precise their navigational systems are.”
Or about as much as they care about that border.
If the Russians are attacking ISIL, Isreal would not have minded them buzzing Tel Aviv.

Erdogen won the same way Obama won....mysteriously.
This sends a message that Israel is not stupid.
But we knew that already, right?
Israel........ One lone adult in a sea of children.
I recall seeing something about that this morning. Do you remember where you saw it? I am sure I will come across it again.
A few days ago I read that Putin had visited Iran’s supreme ruler and gifted him with some old manuscripts of the Koran.
