Colorado Springs, the location of an attack on a Planned Parenthood clinic that left three people dead, is a centre of rightwing Christian culture with a “wild west mentality†when it comes to guns.
The attack, by a lone gunman carrying a rifle or shotgun, took place at a clinic that is the site of regular anti-abortion protests by the city’s pro-life Christian groups.
Planned Parenthood, aware of hostility about their work, recently moved to the new facility, hoping it would provide more security for staff.
The building has been likened to a fortress by anti-abortion campaigners and Friday’s attacks revealed that it is equipped with “safe rooms†for staff to shelter in the event of such an event. It also has an extensive security camera system.
With anti-abortion policies supported by many Republican presidential candidates such as Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Jeb Bush, rhetoric attacking Planned Parenthood and other such organisations is not hard to find in the city.
Last spring, following the gruesome attack on a Colorado woman who had her unborn-baby ripped from her womb with a knife, state representative and Springs resident Gordon Klingenschmitt said the attack was “the curse of God upon America for our sin of not protecting innocent children in the wombâ€.
Colorado’s second largest city, with a population of 445,800, has built itself a reputation as a playground for white, pro-gun, pro-life Evangelical Christians. It is also home to one army base, two air force bases, and an air force.

Someone posted in FB that the shooting was at the Drive Up of Chase Bank, but another said that the police stated it started in some eye clinic.

The dead police officer was an evangelical Christian.
The media always promotes that meme before the actual identity is known. When they shriek it loud and long and then the perp is discovered to be Moslem or gangbanger or garden variety lunatic they say that quietly and late and trust that the planted assumptions will be the lasting impressions.

With virtual non-stop coverage and story headlines of “Planned Parenthood Shooting” that continues into today, this will always be forever known and referred to as the PP shooting regardless of the actual motive.
Exactly my thought. Although the state as a whole is liberal.
At this point in time, the Colorado police haven’t released the shooter’s motives.
I wonder how many hundreds or thousands of people that “clinic” killed.

I can't find the part in the article where he proposes that Christians in Colorado wear armbands with the word Juden crossed out and supplanted by a cross.
I guess he'll put that in his next article.

The man who police say attacked a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado had lived part of the time in a cabin with no electricity or running water in the North Carolina mountains.
His neighbors in Black Mountain said Robert Lewis Dear kept mostly to himself. But James Russell said when Dear did talk, it was a rambling combination of a number of topics that didn’t make sense together and he tended to avoid eye contact.
Two topics Russell said he never heard Dear talk about were religion or abortion.

Obama is right, enough is enough, it is past time that we use the weapons of war for their real purpose. Firing squads for Treasonous politicians. It may prevent their other legal use, as ratified in the second admendment.
Personally, importing a hostile army into the country at a time of war is the most obvious form of treason, but I will leave that to a proper court of law.
Either way, the clock ticks between a firing squad and civil war.

Come on in. As the unofficial welcoming committee for Colorado Springs and El Paso county we welcome all "bitter clingers" to the area. I think you will find the beauty breathtaking, the climate always interesting and most of the people decent.
I have heard that the shooting started in the parking lot, not inside PP. There was also speculation that this was a robbery gone bad or a domestic dispute between the gunman and an ex-wife or girlfriend.
There was something in one of the early reports about him firing at moving vehicles.
