Can Donald Trump's Mockery of a Disabled Reporter be Defended?
RedState ^ | November 27, 2015 | Leon H. Wolf

...Mocking a disabled person for their disability has been universally passe since at least the 1950s, and so some of his supporters have been out on twitter over the last couple of days offering various defenses for Trump's behavior on this video. It is important to note that Trump himself has (as far as I know) offered only this by way of "explanation" for his actions:

Defense 1. Trump didn't know Koveleski was disabled...

So, to believe that Trump had no idea what Koveleski looked like or the particulars of his disability, you would have to believe a) that the entire written record of their numerous interactions is fabricated, and Koveleski in particular (the very person on whose word Trump is staking his 9/11 claims) is flat out lying b) that he said "the poor guy" when referring to Koveleski because... well, I have no idea what the "because" is even supposed to be on that one and c) Trump was able to pull off an imitation of Koveleski's specific physical deformity purely by chance...

2. "The Media" mocked Trig Palin for having Down's Syndrome, so they are fair game.

...if Tom Brokaw insulted Dick Cheney, that would not give Rick Santorum free license to punch Jake Tapper in the face.  That's more or less exactly the defense that is being raised by Trump supporters, though.

3. No one is above mockery...

The problem comes when people are mocked, not for the things they've done, but for the physical conditions over which they have no control...

Trump has demonstrated time and time again that he simply is not suited for the office either by temperament or by judgment...

We really must keep our posts "simple", for the benighted, you know. :-)

Trump is not a conservative. As near as I can tell, he is a populist. He tells us what we want to hear.

Many conservatives fear Trump because they see him as Perot 2.0 - someone who will deliver the election to the Democrats, but I wonder if he is really the Manchurian Candidate.

You and ALL of those people are morons !

Trump is like the FFs; he has given up doing business himself, given up the precious time that he used to spend with his family and WHY does he do this? TO SAVE THIS NATION FROM THE BRINK !

He says what he means, means what he says, and too damned bad if someone doesn't like it.

He poured money into Romney's campaign and was just as sick, when Romney just folded like a cheat suit, at the end....just like the rest of us we sick/outraged/confused.

Just because Trump gave thousands and thousands of dollars to Republicans in the 2012 election doesn't mean that he might be a conservative, or a Republican.

I mean, he REALLY liked that flaming liberal, Allen West. Donated to him 3 times in 2012. :)

Spot on -

no one seems to worry that the one person he consulted with before throwing his hat in ring was - Billy Clinton.

After all, the Ross Perot game got HIM electe4d - with less than 50%...

And Trump supported Hitlery in 2008, contributed big to her, had the Clingtoons as honored guests at his wedding - his daughter is best buds with Chelsea - ...

and now, when he sees the possibility that he may NOT become the candidate - he’s already signalling that he may renege on his premise not to go third party.

Were that any other candidate , you Trumpets would be screaming from the roof tops.

“The handful of things Trump gets right came directly from speeches by Ted Cruz. None come from his heart.”

1. There are fewer than a handful of things that are non-negotiable.

2. You have no way of knowing where Trump’s positions came from, nor with what degree of sincerity he holds them.

If you’re going to call “nonsense,” make sure you have a point.

Actually you’re right. Even better. Could you see Clinton threatening to do that with Algire?
