Can Donald Trump's Mockery of a Disabled Reporter be Defended?

...Mocking a disabled person for their disability has been universally passe since at least the 1950s, and so some of his supporters have been out on twitter over the last couple of days offering various defenses for Trump's behavior on this video. It is important to note that Trump himself has (as far as I know) offered only this by way of "explanation" for his actions:

Defense 1. Trump didn't know Koveleski was disabled...

So, to believe that Trump had no idea what Koveleski looked like or the particulars of his disability, you would have to believe a) that the entire written record of their numerous interactions is fabricated, and Koveleski in particular (the very person on whose word Trump is staking his 9/11 claims) is flat out lying b) that he said "the poor guy" when referring to Koveleski because... well, I have no idea what the "because" is even supposed to be on that one and c) Trump was able to pull off an imitation of Koveleski's specific physical deformity purely by chance...

2. "The Media" mocked Trig Palin for having Down's Syndrome, so they are fair game.

...if Tom Brokaw insulted Dick Cheney, that would not give Rick Santorum free license to punch Jake Tapper in the face.  That's more or less exactly the defense that is being raised by Trump supporters, though.

3. No one is above mockery...

The problem comes when people are mocked, not for the things they've done, but for the physical conditions over which they have no control...

Trump has demonstrated time and time again that he simply is not suited for the office either by temperament or by judgment...

I doubt it. Once these activists for primary candidates get started they don’t stop until they are either kicked off the site or their candidate loses in the polls. I’ve seen this for years now. Too bad because Cruz is a great guy and I would certainly support him for prez. But his supporters, like Perry’s before him, are creepy.

I am convinced that Trump had no idea that Serge Kovaleski, had arthrogryposis, a congenital condition affecting joint movement. He never saw him before he did his impression of Kovaleski’s stupidity for retracting his story that he reported some 14 years ago. It speaks loudly of the Lamestream Media that re-writes history to make it conform to their agitprop.

Right now the Lamestream Media is protecting their boy Zer0 with his irrational Syrian Refuge agenda. It speaks loudly of the mind rot of those responsible for reporting the pablum that goes for news and the American public for thinking it is truth.

Facts are that Trump is leading all polls, draws 1000’s everywhere he goes. People want Trump to win the election and there is nothing critics can do about it because they are out numbered and Trump has a bigger microphone than the liberal media.

It is what it is. He’s only announced certain events so far, but he is already likely booking events into 2016. Trump and his base are not going anywhere. It’s a holiday weekend and yet thousands will come out to see Trump speak tomorrow. Once the media starts to focus on their bottom line and realize the ratings bonanza with a Trump/Clinton debate, they will stop carrying the Rino’s water.

The job of the MSM WRT Trump is to keep him visible, his name in lights for disagreements with them, until he has completed his demolition of the conservative wing of the GOP.

In my considerable experience, Trump has got them so flummoxed that the only thing they know how to do now is repeat the same wrestling holds that have served them so well in the past. Raciss Card, WarrenWimmins Card, lather, rinse, repeat.

They injected the Gimp Card on this spin cycle. Ain't working. Nobody cares. :)

Their biggest problem is that Trump has been on America's Stage for DECADES. Most everybody knows who he is, and the Sarah Palin moves to destroy him JUST ... DON'T ... WORK.

Think of all the GOP Congressional leaders they had crawling on their knees at this stage of the game.
