U.S. presidential hopeful Donald Trump's support among Republicans has dropped 12 points in less than a week, marking the real estate mogul's biggest decline since he vaulted to the top of the field in July, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Trump was the favorite of 31 percent of Republicans in a rolling poll in the five days ended on Nov. 27. That was down from a peak of 43 percent registered on Nov. 22.
The dip follows criticism of Trump for comments he made in the aftermath of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.
Following the attacks, Trump told an NBC News reporter that he would support requiring all Muslims within the United States to be registered to a special database, which his critics have likened to the mandatory registration of Jews in Nazi Germany.
Trump has also been criticized for flailing his arms and distorting his speech as he mocked a New York Times reporter, Serge Kovaleski, who is disabled.
Trump mocked the reporter as he defended his unsubstantiated assertion that during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, he watched on television as "thousands and thousands" of people in New Jersey cheered while the World Trade Center fell.
Still, Trump is not the only front-runner to slide in the latest survey.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has seen his poll numbers drift downward and now trails Trump by more than half, with just 15 percent of Republicans polled saying they would vote for him in the same Nov. 27 poll. As recently as late October, Carson trailed Trump by only six points.
Following Carson, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Texas Senator Ted Cruz are tied for third place, with more than 8 percent each.

hmm...
I call it media FRENZY BS.
Always looking for a Trap for Trump!
GO Trump GO!
He’s the Best of the Best to be our Next President!
Oh no... thats it I guess... oh well back to the same old same old
Guess I’ll have to just give up and vote for Dondi.
I’m crushed.
I have to believe that those who stand on right to privacy, right to enjoy the solace of their home and right to defend those things against intrusive jerks are not accounted for in these polls. But such folks can safely be ignored because they are politically irrelevant. Heck, most of them are supporting losers like Cruz and Trump [/sarcasm].
“Live by the poll, die by the poll.”
That sounds so profound, but how can you say that Trump lives by the polls? Quoting the polls and living by the polls are two different concepts. Has Trump ever tailored his message to fit a poll?
Taking care of a handicapped relative is hard, you’re doing God’s work. I used to work for a NPO in the Chicago area that helped mentally disabled adults and it was tough work, but it was also very rewarding and I love that organization. This reporter is on record saying he has interacted with Trump and that he knows Trump on a first name basis, looking at the paper trail of articles written by this reporter on Trump I’m inclined to side with the reporter. If this guy refuted an article on Trump from 2001 then shame on him, but shame on Trump for making fun of his disability.
If Trump fell that much, which candidates were the beneficiaries? I don’t see anyone moving up. Am I wrong?
Even if Trump and the reporter met a few times, it was in the late 80’s almost 30 years ago. Why do people expect Trump to remember who this man was? He would be a pissant to him.
Do you remember every person you interacted with 30 years ago?
I thought so as well until I looked at the sample sizes on the days Trump was in the 40’s. Check it out: on those days the sample size was twice or more as much as the November 27th sample size.
Gotta say it: size does matter!
GO TRUMP!
Then he needs to earn the support through his performance like Trump has. He isn’t entitled to it because he checks off the right boxes.
Hey I hate the NY Times and Washington Post, but do we want a president who makes personal attacks on issues such as looks or mental disabilities?
If Trump is done why isnt the NYT dancing in the street with joyful ululations?
It is likely a rushed Thanksgiving poll then. Pollsters wanting to get out of town, and people not there to answer.
I’m certainly a lot closer to your view on this than that poll.
I was rather surprised to see him rise to 42.9%. I didn’t see a cause for it. Now this.
Could be statistical noise or simply gaming the situation.
Did they run it up to 42.9% so it would look worse when they ran it down the next week?
Something stinks like rotting fish with this one.
And if Trump said he didn't know him, never spoke to him, then I would take Trump's word over this guy's word...as far as Carly, I happen to agree and on Carson, the man wrote this crap in his own books, and to ‘tried to attack my mother with a hammer’ that is pathological disorder...
But you go ahead and discredit all you want, and let Hillary in the white house AGAIN and what you reap will be all on anti-trump supporters not those of us trying to save this Great Country for what She stands for....
Like him or not, Trump sees the country hanging by a thread and he's going to do what it takes to win...even if that means mocking his opponents. BTW, Trump never attacks until he's attacked.
Too bad McCain and Romney weren't willing to fight for the Presidency.
They both choked. And gave us Obama.
No one is going to give anyone the nomination, including Cruz, that’s up to the voters.
Wishful thinking on Reuters/IPSOS’s part ... they are so behind the times, their poll is now an outlier.
So now reporters are the bastions of truth and the American way?
You haven’t trusted reporters in decades, but now this one is sure to be telling the truth.
LOL
AMEN!!!
