Johnny Cash - Thanksgiving Prayer
We've come to the time in the season When family and friends gather near To offer a prayer of Thanksgiving For blessings we've known through the year To join hands and thank the creator And now when Thanksgiving is due This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you
I'm grateful for the laughter of children The sun and the wind and the rain The color of blue in your sweet eyes The sight of a high ball and train The moon rise over a prairie Old love that you've made new This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you This year when I count my blessings I'm thanking the Lord He made you
And when the time comes to be going It won't be in sorrow and tear I'll kiss you goodbye and I'll go on my way Grateful for all of the years I thank for all that you gave me For teaching me what love can do Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life I'm thanking the Lord He made you Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life I'm thanking the Lord He made you

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Thanksgiving Song
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table. From far and near we travel home, Blessed that we are able.
Grateful for this sheltered place With light in every window, Saying "welcome, welcome, share this feast Come in away from sorrow."
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend and friendless; All together everyone in the gift of loving-kindness.
Grateful for what's understood, And all that is forgiven; We try so hard to be good, To lead a life worth living.
Father, mother, daughter, son, Neighbor, friend, and friendless; All together everyone, let grateful days be endless.
Grateful for each hand we hold Gathered round this table.
Please remember that The Canteen is here to support and entertain our troops and veterans and their families, and is family friendly.

Thanks for checking in, Pro. Glad you had a great time eating and playing cards. Did you win?
Have fun visiting.
My brother from Tennessee is going back to work on the slope. The 42’ sailboat they are restoring is costing more than expected. He texted me last night and I invited him over for Thanksgiving dinner and to surprise my Mom. A good time was had by all. And I have a “brother-do” list started. He volunteered. LOL!

Were you able to plan the music with her before she passed on? Unfortunately, I was not. She was in very poor health in the last months of her life. Nonetheless, the music I chose included "In the Garden," which she said was her favorite hymn, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," and Carolyn Freeman's beautiful but forgotten 1931 hymn "Back of the Clouds." The final hymn was "When We All Get to Heaven."
My sister-in -law played the piano to provide the music. She passed away a year ago from cancer.

Randy Stonehill - Born Twice - 06 - Never Can RepayI always think of this song as "Thank you" (see lyrics) but it is Never Can Repay...
NEVER CAN REPAY
Randy Stonehill
The things of the world may be all right But I really don't need 'em since I've seen the light People all runnin' round gettin' uptight Well I'm OK I sleep well at night
Thank you, thank you What Can I say? Thank You is not enough There's no way to repay I never can repay
Thank you...
Things of the world may be all right But I really don't need 'em since I've seen the light People all runnin' round and gettin' uptight Well I'm OK Well I'm alright
Thank you...
I said I never can repay

Goodbye Momma, goodbye to you too Pa
Little sister, you’ll have to wait a while to come along
Goodybye to this house and all it’s memories
We just got too old to say we’re wrong
Got to make one last trip to my bedroom
Guess I’ll have to leave some stuff behind
It’s funny how the same old crooked pictures
Just don’t seem the same to me tonight
There ain’t no use in shedding lonely tears Mamma
There ain’t no use in shouting at me Pa
I can’t live no longer with your fears Mamma
I love you but that hasn’t helped at all
Each of us must do the things that matter
All of us must see what we can see
It was long ago, you must remember
You were once as young and scared as me
I don’t know how hard it is yet Mamma
When you realize you’re growing old
I know how hard is not to be younger
I know you’ve tried to keep me from the cold
Thanks for all you done, it may sound hollow
Thank you for the good times that we’ve known
But I must find my own road, now to follow
You will all be welcome in my home
Got my suitcase, I must go now
I don’t mind about the things you said
I’m sorry Mom, I don’t know where I’m going
Remember little sister, look ahead
Tomorrow I’ll be in some other sunrise
Maybe I’ll have someone at my side
Mamma, give your love back to your husband
Father, you’ve have taught me well, goodbye
Goodbye Mamma, goodbye to you too Pa
