President Obama used his weekly address to appeal to families counting their blessings on Thanksgiving, reminding Americans that the holiday isn’t only about turkey but a tribute to the deep immigration history that led to the nation’s founding.
In 1620, a small band of pilgrims came to this continent, refugees who had fled persecution and violence in their native land, Obama says. Nearly 400 years later, we remember their part in the American story and we honor the men and women who helped them in their time of need.
The Obama administration said Wednesday that states can't legally block the resettlement of refugees, according to a letter from the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement sent to state officials.
In the letter, the agency said states are bound by the Refugee Act of 1980 to provide "assistance and services to refugees without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex or political opinion, and cannot cut off ORR-funded services to Syrian refugees.
Additionally, the letter says refugees are protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the bases of race and national origin" in all programs that receive federal financial assistance.
More than 30 state governors have indicated they will attempt to block any future refugees from settling in their states.
Obama said he has been “touched by the generosity of the Americans†who have written letters and emails in recent weeks offering to open their homes to refugees fleeing the Islamic State, ISIL.
Nearly four centuries after the Mayflower set sail, the world is still full of pilgrims – men and women who want nothing more than the chance for a safer, better future for themselves and their families,†the president says.

This is more than America problem. Europe is going through the same thing. It an agenda created by UN migration division and Soros’ Open Society group. It is sick and heartbreaking to see it happen to our country. I support immigration but it has to legal. This is forced migration and influx at the level he and what they want will destroy this country
We need put America through some sort Restoration period or a movement. A fight to restore our Constitutional values, our political system. I personally want the Dept of Justice transferred from the Executive branch to Judicial to restore check and balance. A president should not have the ability to police his administration. Get politics out of k-12 and high education system—restore free thought. These college kids want to remove free speech and Thomas Jefferson statue from campus. We have social unrest funded by Soros.
But get this...I think it could be a bipartisan movement. I see more and more Dems dissenting from this administration. When Jim Webb’s gave his exit speech from candidacy he basically stated it wasn’t the Democratic party he knew.
At least all of the people who voted for him are stupid enough to believe everything he says.

We have more than a few “tools” to convince you otherwise. If any of your fascist swine make the attempt to force Jihad Johnny on this state, our sovereign citizens will “talk” in a language you might better understand.
The states need to try. Send in the National Guard. Let Barry go against them in front of the American public for all to see.
His arguments are always great — if your audience is made up of people whose IQs are less than 70.
The difference between the left and right is we;ve been happy with our culture while they see a culture they want to change. They see people who want to maintain their own culture as bigots, racists, privileged. They ask us to respect other peoples culture while disrespecting ours. I’m perfectly happy to respect other peoples cultures but that doesn’t extend to making mine morph into theirs. The left will only be happy when they can change ours.
Its only going to get uglier and uglier for the next 12 months as the left sees the end of their Obama era and a candidate on their side who can’t seem to get over the top. In about 14 months we may see the right controlling both houses and the white house. I think if the polls indicate a win for the right by next summer the left will be doing even more to implement their agenda on us, inflict change upon us. Flood us with as many refugees and migrants as they possibly can and then try to use the courts or even the old inevitability argument, they’re here and its impossible and too expensive to get rid of them. whatever they can do to change us into some imaginary 3rd world utopia.
