The Turkish military has released an audio recording of what it says were warnings to a Russian warplane before it was shot down on the Syrian border.
"Change your heading south immediately," a voice says in English. Turkey said it had tried to rescue the SU-24 bomber's two pilots.

“The real question is why would the Turks shoot down a plane that making at best a technical violation of their airspace”
Because there is a long history of the Syrian air forces going after targets outside and inside Turkey’s borders while engaging Turkish air defenses in combat.
I think it means I would like to see Turkey broken up, Constantinople awarded to Greece, and a nation of Kurdistan.
Did Valerie Jarrett/Obama call him?
I’m sure somewhere in the NSA/CIA there is data and a recording.
That’s why we’ll ignore you as being just another Putinista flogging around a lost of disinformation.
By your logic, that would make you an apologist for Erdogan and Islamic terrorists. Putin, Orthodox Christian, can deal with Israel, but Erdogan, Moslem who hates Israel, cannot.
No, on the contrary, it only makes me an apologist for the rule of law and an opponent to the criminal acts of Putin and his criminal regime, regardless of who ends up being gored by its horns.
“I also donât buy this stuff that was likely recorded this morning.”
You’re just blindly repeating Russian disinformation. The NATO Secretary General reported that the other nations in the region confirmed Turkey’s account of the radio and radar information. they have more credibility than Russia does after invading the Ukraine with Russian troops and then trying to deny it did so in some extraordinarily blatantly lies.
“There is no good side here, Iâm simply saying I wouldnât be using the UN to make your point.”
The activities of the Kurds, Turkmen, and others in guerilla warfare across the borders of turkey and Syria are well know historical events for many decades. The existence of the provision in the Charter of the United Nations is a public document that does not require its use. It is simply a fact of life, which happens to authorize much of Turkey’s combat operations against targets within the sovereign territories of Syria. it is also mandated by the Kellogg-Briand Pact along with the Budapest Memorandum of 1933.
I'm not buying it; I don't think you are confessing your biases for being antiPutin and proErdogan.
Also, if the SU-24's were warned, wouldn't the pilots go into "active threat" mode and start DISPENSING FLARES TO DIVERT POTENTIAL SIDEWINDERS (AIM-9's)? They never did this which indicates to me THEY WERE NOT WARNED AND AMAZINGLY PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE F-16'S WERE THERE.
Remember, the SU-24 is a BOMBER not a fighter jet!
Isn’t shooting a pilot descending in a parachute a violation of the Geneva convention laws? Why is Russia not pursuing charging Turkey with war crimes?
That has to be one of the most ignorant and really stupid messages put up by anyone today....
You sure do worry a lot about Turkey.
Turkey is not a part of the United States.
Are you an American?
Another stupid question coming out of the woodwork.....
You’re not an American, are you?
Come on. Tell us what nationality you are.
There was a Dutch plane nearby that confirmed hearing the warnings in guard channel.

No telling if the Russian pilot was monitoring guard or if he understood English.
All pilots speak English. English is the language of aviation.
The lies are endless with these Islamofascist vermin. Kick them out of NATO. I'd rather have Russia in NATO than Turkey.
This is the first I’ve heard that the F-4 was shot down by Russians. If so, it’s perfectly understandable that the Turks would want to send a message.
Fact is that the Russians are meddling where they don’t belong, and haven’t made too many friends in the area.
Also, for the Turkmen to have murdered the pilot of the SU24
was a despicable act. That will call down the wrath of Spetsnaz on the heads of the guilty parties and rightfully so.
This is all bull crap. I believe none of it. The Russians did not get baited but I assure you there will be hell to pay for the Turks (AND THEY KNOW IT). The fun will be next time with the new ant-air craft missiles deployed in northern Syria by the Russian heros. They have a 200 mile range and the next time the Russians see aggressive air attacks on their forces, it will be obliteration for the Turks.
Everyone I talk to is solidly behind the Russian in Syria and want no part over there at all.
“Article 5” specifically covers only “Armed attacks IN Europe or North America”. Turkey is not in Europe — NOT EVEN CLOSE!! and there is ABSOLUTELY NO ARTICLE 5 treaty agreement for attacks TURKEY —NONE!! It would be ILLEGAL!!
