Turkey shot down a Russian warplane for violating its airspace Tuesday, but the Turkish air force does the exact same thing several times a day in Greece.
Turkey was quick to defend its action by stating it issued 10 warnings over the course of five minutes before firing on the plane.
“The data we have is very clear. There were two planes approaching our border, we warned them as they were getting too close,” a senior Turkish official told Reuters. “Our findings show clearly that Turkish air space was violated multiple times. And they violated it knowingly.”
But the Turkish air force doesn’t seem to be too careful about entering Greek airspace, according to numbers from the University of Thessaly. A tally shows the Turks committed a total of 2,244 violations in 2014, up from 636 in 2013.
The Russians did not take the matter lightly and President Vladimir Putin called the action from Turkey “a stab in the back.” He further warned of serious consequences for the action that he believes was made by “the accomplices of terrorists.”
President Barack Obama said Russia and Turkey needs to investigate what happened before taking any further actions against one another.
“I think it is very important for us to right now make sure that both the Russians and the Turks are talking to each other and find out exactly what happened, and take measures to discourage any kind of escalation,” Obama said at a joint press conference with French President Francois Hollande at The White House.

Obama, the Moslem, probably Ordered the hit
using US supplied weapons, as Obama, the Moslem,
protected/protects al Qaeda, the new ally of
the US Congress against the American people.
Watch the video to the end. He said it had to be pre planned because Russia was not in the airspace but 20 to 40 seconds.
Maybe Vlad can gift the Greeks an S300 missile battery with the necessary technical assistance. Armenia could use some help, too.
Its easy to tell if the president sympathizes with any given act of violence by whether or not he advises caution and against jumping to conclusions in response.
And the jet was only inside Syria by 1 km (less than 1/2 mile). Preplanned and probably with approval from NATO beforehand.
I remember that when I was in ET school at Great Lakes, Turkey and Greece were at war and their troops were on our base.
Yes that’s how I figured it earlier. The path the SU-24 Fencer took that I saw was across a jetty like panhandle of Turkey. It would take less than a 1 minute for a fighter jet to cover the distance.
I am not thinking it was with the approval of NATO. They want to know why Turkey didn’t just escort the plane out. No, I think it was with the approval of Obama.
According to the General, that sort of violation is pretty common. In the case of this one, the plane was flying straight for quite a distance and the way the geography is laid out, that put them over the tip of Turkey for 20 to 40 seconds. It is not that they went out of their way to do it. Neither was there ever any threat to Turkey territory. This thing reeks of a staged event in order to be offensive while claiming defense.
It also could be a case where the Russians baited the Turks ... and the Turks called their bluff.
well, we know how seriously Turkey treats the sanctity of borders.

Watch the video by the U.S. Air Force General linked to above. Or here it is again: http://video.foxnews.com/v/4630118119001/radar-track-shows-russia-jets-path-over-turkish-territory/?intcmp=hpbt2#sp=show-clips
The one thing you can be sure of with this fighting in Syria is that the Democrats will make it worse.
you nailed it
.........which ever Turkish political leader or military leader/officer ordered this shoot down just condemned hundreds, if not thousands of their soldiers, and probably civilians, to death..........to say nothing of probably tens of millions of equipment and property.
...all for one fighter plane and one helicopter! Dumb, dumb, dumb!
That said, Putin doesn’t lose a moment’s sleep over shooting down airliners and killing innocents in the Ukraine or assasinating his rivals in Russia so f him too!
I guess in a way the current situation where the Rooskies are killing muzzies and the muzzies are killing Rooskies, AND each other, is just more than we all could possibly hope for! So, I guess it’s a good thing!
Thanks for posting that.
Greece & Turkey were not in or next to a war at the time.
