McDonald runs towards one police cruiser while brandishing a knife, a 2nd cruiser rolls up, cop steps out walks towards McDonald and proceeds to shoot him 16 times.

Dead is cheaper than wounded. Most require continued firing until threat is no longer possible. ie, empty your frickin gun.
I do not agree or disagree. I merely explain that any comment on # of times shot or by how many officers is an uninformed editorial unless you know what their policies are!
The cop’s attorney may look to improve his chances for an acquittal by opting for a bench trial (a trial by a judge) instead of a jury trial. Even a judge who is very sympathetic to the victim will be more likely to follow the letter of the law when it comes to a strict definition of first degree murder.
With RSNA beginning sunday afternoon, the last thing they want is a riot like Baltimore.
I have heard it reported that the victim had a three inch knife. Yep, three inches.
The video looks really bad. I’ve only seen it once but the cop was unjustified in the shooting to begin with. The cavalry had just arrived and the guy had a knife. No civilians within striking distance and the guy was walking past and away from him. Taser would have been sufficient.
PCP. Wasn’t that what Rodney King was on, in Los Angeles, where he became a gorilla against the officers?
Cops may have reason to believe he was on PCP. If so, a cop doesn’t dare give a guy time to arrive at nose to nose.
But, I didn’t see the video. 16 shots seems insane, or sheer panic, or both.
I want to see how they get first degree murder out of that. Is first degree still premeditated in Illinois?
But that's not how things are done in Obamaville. The riots are supposed to start the minute you hear the victims name is Laquan
Hard to tell from the dash cam video and without audio or witness statements, but it appears to me the perp was striding briskly toward the cops, knife visible in his right hand. At the moment just prior to the shooting, he turns face on to them, as if to threaten. Doesn’t look like murder 1 or 2. In a different era, not even manslaughter.
We all know the 27' rule.
I understand your point, but pictured here is a knife with a 2 and 1/2" blade, and let me tell you, I don't want any part of that near me at all, especially with PCP on the handle side of it.
However, that being said, I don't see imminent life in danger or great bodily harm threat prior to the firing.
Police are trained that once they begin shooting, they empty all the rounds in there gun. IDIOT Laquan McDonald had his hand in his pocket and clearly pulled something out; and that is probable cause to begin shooting! COMPLY - DON’T DIE !!!
The word you were looking for was inconclusive, dummy.
A 3-inch knife on a perp high on PCP is more than enough to be able to kill.
What is also very shocking is not one officer made an attempt to check out the condition of the guy once he was shot.
In my younger days I was a cocktail waitress in nightclubs. I’ve seen fights when a guy was on pcp. If you can knock them down they just keep getting up. They can be half dead and keep getting up. They feel no pain. They’re numb.
If, and I say if, the first shot was fatal then the rest are irrelevant to the charge.
I don’t know if King was on it or not to be honest.
I was watching Drugs, Inc. on Nat Geo one night, the show was about PCP. This is a drug that is apparently mostly exclusive to poor black neighborhoods for some reason.
This woman was filming this guy who was high on it. He was walking naked outside with his intestines hanging out of his belly. She told him you are going to die and pointed to his visible organs hanging, and he looked at them like he didn’t even care or much even notice.
Then he proceeded to get into a fight with a tree.
All I can say is, it seems to turn people into rabid animals.
He was high on pcp. That would have been reckless.
Wonder if 'roids were involved in this shooting?
