Your room name is hurting people.
According to a recent student op ed, a bro-dude calling a room in his house a âman caveâ is not just obnoxious but truly harmful to women and a âdisgusting patriarchal myth.â
âWhile I think itâs perfectly acceptable, and even healthy, to have separate spaces where one can enjoy time alone, the gendered language around âman caveâ is pretty gross,â Kalani Ruidas writes in a piece for Golden Gate Xpress, San Francisco State Universityâs official student newspaper.
Lest you think that what a dude decides to call a room in his own house isnât hurting anyone, Ruidas wants you to know that the idea of a âman caveâ amounts to a âpassive dig at femininityâ â yes, the very idea of femininity! â because itâs like saying that âwomen are such a burden that theyâre restricted from that zone.â
(Of course, some people might think that some rooms are called âman cavesâ just because theyâre filled with traditionally âman-likeâ things. However, intelligent people know that this could not be the case because gender roles obviously do not exist.)
âTheyâre the makings of a shrine to big business that has man-cavers nostalgic for a time when they were happy . . . guys should get over the feudalistic idea of a man cave allowing them to be the âlord of their manorâ in a room they can call their own,â Ruidas explains in her piece, which is titled âMan Caves Perpetuate Patriarchy.â
In addition to perpetuating patriarchy, Ruidas argues, âman cavesâ can also make racism worse . . . because âa man cave is a place where a man devolves into a grunting subhuman that leaves sexist and racist comments on message boards

“Sally’s into knowledge, spent her years in college just to find out nothing was true”
Get a life, Lady, cause it sure as h3ll seems like you haven’t been laid in awhile.

Liberalism truly is a mental illness.
I think it probably was a term that some wife came up with when referring to the den, office, garage and shed.
I’ll tell you what’s offensive Anything out of a wet behind the ears liberal’s mouth. And the adult liberals are no better.
What doesn’t offend Libs?
They get offended at everything.
Here is a suggestion, Kate, grow a thicker skin.
Any females allowed into "the cave" will have to bring more than dusting supplies and a vacuum cleaner......(if you know what I mean),
Kalani Ruidas.
I find that name deeply offensive. It hurts me.
Well now. I really hadn’t been using the phrase very much. Now cognizant that it puts a burr under the feminazis’ saddles, I shall make an effort to add it to my vocabulary.
The women are jealous because the husband gets a man cave and the women get a sewing room!
If the man wanted a shop, the women would still be complaining because they can’t decorate it takes up too much of their time.
Somehow I don’t think the term “hen party” will pass muster with these humorless harpies either.
I drink beer in my man cave as well.
I see his picture and immediately think “fantasy island” and “chrysler cordoba”
Methinks Kate may yearn to be manly?
I don’t care!
“I have done worse than kill you.... I have HURT you. And I wish to go on HURTING YOU. I shall leave you as you left me.... buried in the center of a lifeless planet.... buried alive..... buried alllivvveee......”
CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!
My uncle called his cave “the boar’s nest”. My aunt kept her distance.
