Ted Cruz on Wednesday edged into a virtual tie with GOP front-runner Donald Trump in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday for the state of Iowa, with Trump retaining a narrow lead of 25 percent of the vote, followed by Cruz with 23 percent, doubling his support from four weeks ago.
By the numbers:
- Trump, 25 percent;
- Cruz, 23 percent;
- Dr. Ben Carson, 18 percent;
- Sen. Marco Rubio, 13 percent;
- ...
The Quinnipiac Poll was conducted between Nov. 16-22 of 600 likely Iowa Republican Caucus participants, and carried a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. In addition, 58 percent of the voters said they might still change their minds.

- Trump, 23 percent;
- Cruz, 5 percent;
- Carson, 9 percent;
- Rubio, 7 percent;
- Paul, 12 percent;
- Bush, 26 percent;
- ...
The voters said the economy and jobs are the most important issues determining who will get their vote, 24 percent of the voters said, followed by 15 percent on terrorism and foreign policy, 11 percent on the federal deficit, and 10 percent for immigration.
...
Cruz, though, was deemed best on foreign policy by 24 percent, followed by 18 percent for Trump, 15 percent for Rubio, and 8 percent for Bush. Carson and Paul each had six percent. ...

Cruz has decades of consistently conservative principles. There’s a reason GOP voters find his candidacy worth supporting.

But it might surprise you to learn that the majority of Trump supporters have no problem with Ted Cruz winning the nomination fair and square. Either way, we win. I hope and pray that you're right.

The best electable man is Trump. PERIOD. The media are trying the opposite side of the same coin. They got Mittens the nomination last time to piss off conservatives and make them stay home. This time they are head faking you to support Cruz who will not only be abandoned by the NRC but will be run away from by moderates and Democrats. Cruz is a great man and great conservative but he is not electable in a general election.

Wow. And wow. Impressive.
It’ll be interesting to see what Trump does with this info. He went a little kooky when Carson caught him. I am not anti-Trump, in fact, I am very open to his candidacy, but he’s not handled such moments well.

“likely” caucus participants wont get the highly motivated folks that want the country back. Love Cruz but it’s clear who has the ‘motivateds’ and perhaps more importantly, the cross overs.

Cruz is a great man and great conservative but he is not electable in a general election.This way of thinking got us John McCain and Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney won moderates in the last election.

Soft support among the candidates with Trump having the most solid supporters.

I think as this comes down to a 3 man field that Cruz has his chance.
I think it will come down to Trump, Cruz and Rubio.
We will then have some great debates. I think if your for Amnesty and cheap labor Rubio is the only choice.
I just hope that Cruz attacks on the issues and remains in good stead with Trump. I would love to see a Trump Cruz ticket.
Trump wins serves one term as President and Cruz goes on to be President for 2 terms, or Trump puts him on the Supreme Court where he serves for 30 years.
To: Red Steel
Yes, he mentioned this last night. BTW, there were a number (certainly nowhere near a majority or large number) of blacks, Indians, other ethnicities there for Trump, but I would say a huge number of under 30s. Yeah, there were the gray hairs, but I was shocked at how many college kids there were.
And outside were the OSU student oaf-lets protesting, while inside were the smart kids. And funny, but all the girls inside were hot and all the ones outside were dogs.

Not so fast, attacks will start.

Why would Trump be a one term president?
I think that’s dreaming! If he is elected he’s there for two terms.

To: ScottinVA
That is what you are seeing in this poll, former Carson people switching to Cruz. Doesn’t make sense that they should claim the economy and jobs is their first concern when they support a FREETRADE Cruz when anybody with a gram of sense knows that FREE TRADE is destroying our manufacturing and adding to our trade deficit. If they want jobs, they’d better wake up to the fact that TRUMP is the ONLY choice!
