It did happen, and I saw it.
Donald Trump is telling the truth about Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on September 11, 2001.
I drove with family members though Patterson, N.J. that morning, after the planes hit. It's not the kind of thing you forget.
We witnessed people in traditional Muslim garb dancing, jumping, shouting and celebrating like their team had won the Super Bowl, just as Trump said.
"I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down," Trump said Saturday. "And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering."
Trump has refused to back off of those comments. He told ABC's George Stephanopoulos Sunday, "it did happen. I saw it."
Media outlets and politicians have been quick to call the Republican presidential front-runner a liar but the fact is it happened just like he said.
I didn't see thousands of Muslims celebrating but I absolutely saw a pocket, perhaps 100, jumping for joy at the sight of the smoke rising from where the Twin Towers used to be.
The funny part of the media-made controversy is that until Trump recalled his experience on that day, these events were a commonly accepted fact by Jerseyans.
Others in N.J. have spoken about witnessing these events.

I definitely recall Moslems celebrating on a street corner I think in NYC, while looking toward the towers. And definitely street celebrations and handing out sweets in the Palestinian territories. Trump might be exagerating the numbers, but there were Moslems celebrating in the NYC area and in some Moslem nations.
On a related not, I can't believe how the Dems are now clinging on this as their cause. They don't have much to run on and, unfortunately, Trump just threw them a lifeline.
I saw news reports about it with video.
Correct on all counts, from a fellow Jerseyan (Warren County).
Heck, the Muzzies in our Math Department at UIC in Chicago and outside on the campus were celebrating too. You could hear them. Muzzies all over our fruited plains were celebrating, and we all know it. We know they were celebrating behind closed doors all over our country, so that we wouldn’t see it, but we know, ... don’t we. We know.
There have been many corroborating reports on the interweb. People from NJ saw their celebrations first hand and NJ freepers have even reported on it.
I believe freepers much more than the media...or you.
And yes, I saw pictures of Muslims celebration around the world...BUT NOT IN NJ as the Donald claims.
I have not seen one video or picture of it happening in New Jersey as the Donald claimed. I know it happened in the West Bank.
But this was before Youtube and iPhones.
Where in Jersey are you located? There have been many reports of muslims gathering on roof tops and in parks within eyeshot of downtown Manhatten, celebrating the collapse of the World Trader Centers.
Are you doubting muslims did celebrate?
I spent most of my career on Wall St and I am still pissed.
Had many closing dinners at Windows on the World.
I know there are many fine muslims who may not support terrorism...and they should stand aside while we kill those who do.
The video I saw that day had the smoking towers in the background across a broad expanse of water. Sound like the West Bank to you?
Is everyone else on this thread mistaken about what they remember?

I know this was before youtube and Iphones but there were cameras and video recorders in 2001. I would think that there would be at least one recorded example. Hell if I saw the Muzzies celebrating I would have at least called somebody with a camcorder to record this. If for nothing else to give to the FBI.
And FWIW, I am still pissed too. I would like nothing more than proof to rub it in the libs faces. But so far I have seen none.

On September 12, almost exactly 24 hours after terrorists slammed hijacked jets into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, an accountant in the Houston city controller’s office sat at his keyboard and typed a gloating e-mail to a friend in the city legal department.
“What’s your take on this bombing?†asked the sender, a slight 30-year-old man of Pakistani descent. He went on to offer his view:
“I say it’s great and wonderful and probably the best thing I’ve seen in my life.
“The world got what it deserved.
“Persons are rotten, evil, and thrash [sic] so this is what happens when they act like that and I hope a full scale war breaks out over this.â€
The author got his wish and more. As military action raged later in Afghanistan, his leaked e-mail provoked a bureaucratic battle at City Hall that led to his resignation. After the worker left, superiors found that his computer contained prurient e-mails suggesting he had solicited and purchased sexual favors from a female legal department secretary.
Although the recipient of the original e-mail was his confidante, she found the terrorism message alarming enough to turn it over to her supervisor, Connie Acosta, the section chief of the department’s labor division. And there the matter apparently rested for two weeks, until a staffer for Controller Sylvia Garcia was forwarded a copy of the e-mail and alerted her boss...
Ward Churchill and Rev. Jeremiah Wright boasted that “chickens had come home to roost” (”they deserved it!”).
You don't know what he saw.
Every one of those muslims should be pushed off the top floor of the new skyscraper.
