Legendary conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh explained to his vast audience a key difference between current Republican presidential frontrunner, real estate tycoon and reality TV star, Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who has been running in third or fourth place behind Trump and Dr. Ben Carson, with Marco Rubio also in the mix.
On Mondays broadcast, the influential Limbaugh gave an analysis of the GOP race to the nomination, praising Cruz as being ideally positioned to be the nominee should Trump or Carson falter, and as the only " thoroughbred conservative."in the race.
"I think that there is a dark horse in this entire thing, and I think there is one candidate who is positioned here," Rush said. "There has been somebody trucking along here, steady-eddy, that has continued to be who he is and continues to lay down foundational markers for himself and thats Ted Cruz. And I think Ted Cruz is, is positioned, I would say ideally, "he contended.

Cruz is right in sync with Jeff Session, has said he changed his mind. What is the big deal?
Cruz has a few insurmountable, “mistakes” for me. I started out as his biggest fan here(Cruz or lose)” but Cruz is not what he claimed to be. Rush got fooled a bit. I didn’t. I’m OK with VP, but just barely. AG? All for it.
Honestly, I was a lot more convinced of that about four months ago.
Canals, roads, highways, military installations, harbor improvements, etc. have all required the legitimate application of eminent domain and just compensation to the property owners for the PUBLIC good. I disagree with it being used to serve the interests of a private interest and, knowing how Atlantic City works, the aroma of public corruption and pay offs.
I take it you are fine with Trump who in 2004! Tweeted "I always vote for the winners. Congratulations to My Friend @BarackObama."
Name one person in this country who is a success on the level of Trump who doesn't court both sides.
In case you haven't noticed, we do not have a capitalist system, it's called pay to play.
But you already knew that, didn't you....
BFL.
You sound like a GOPe establishment hack. Real conservatives will never pick a candidate based on how much the left likes them. We will pick the candidate that is the most conservative and if that candidate also pisses off the left more than any other, that’s a bonus.
Cruz is a totally consistent conservative and isn’t deceptive at all. There’s a reason Hillary and Trump are polled as the least trustworthy candidates in the race.
Cruz never went on TV and said, yeah, some of my stances are those of a Democrat. Trump did so in July.
If you had posted this headline a year ago, everyone at FR would have laughed at it, knowing who is conservative.
Yet here we are, having this discussion...
Ted was never a real estate developer.
Get off your high horse. Donald is the man for the job because of his experience in business and international trade.
But he needs Ted by his side to key him on facts because Ted’s mind is a steel trap of facts.
And Ted needs Donald to impart that global trade experience and the tactics used in tough negotiations.
The difference is 19 trillion in debt and a sick economy made sicker by stupid trade deals. Donald is the man for this.
Cruz isn’t owned by anybody. If you’re worried about a candidate owned by corporate interests, Trump is the guy to watch. Trump IS a huge corporation. You seriously expect him to govern against his own interests? If a policy will help his family business, he will put it through.
Right, but Cruz paved the way to give Obama TPA (and TPP), whereas Trump is unequivocally against that sort of giveaway.
Trump also sounds more selective on the amnesty he’d give current illegals (requiring them to go home first, as well)—and he’s being more open about his position, while Cruz plays games with the likes of “we can talk about what I’d do with current illegals once the border is secure” (AKA not during my campaign).
I’m for Trump/Cruz.
Trump is a populist, and I’ll take a populist over the GOPe, RINOs and Hillary.
But I prefer a true blue conservative: CRUZ!
Consigning people to the liberal plantation is not compassionate.
Helping people become independent of government is compassionate.
This really tells the world all it needs to know about the most rabid, emotionally attached Trump lovers.
LOL...amazing
Oops!
Yeah...not buying Trump's BS. Period.
Rush and Levin both support the Republican Party candidates in the end and sometimes even hype them as ‘conservatives’.
Levin is worse in that regard trying to sell me on Rubio too many times.
I believe 95 percent of Republican elected officials and candidates either fake conservatism or repudiate it.
Cruz is my candidate in terms of financial support, but I would accept Trump if the VP candidate is not from the 95 percent non-conservative ranks of the GOP.
I’ll back away from supporting Cruz if his VP candidate is RINO as well.
I’m much more receptive to the creation of a new third party than the GOP right now.
“I take it you are fine with Trump “
You take it dead WRONG.
