One of my long-time favorites - it’s always interesting to read the comments that go along with the You Tube music to see what pieces have been selected to be played by local school bands and church groups, and which are considered tough playing - being instrumentally-illiterate myself I can’t really tell but I would think this Overture would have been among the more difficult for a high school group....

The Spokesmen were John Madera, Dave White and Ray Gilmore. Dave White was with Danny & the Juniors, and the Madera-White team wrote a number of hits to include “You Don’t Own Me.” Gilmore was a DJ at WIBG in Philadelphia, and he later went to New York under the name of Sean Casey.
