House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)58% is ruling out making any cuts to Muslim immigration.
In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Ryan declared that considering an applicant's religion would not be "appropriate" and would be fundamentally un-American---insisting "that's not who we are."
...
Ryan said, in part, that the reason the program could not simply be canceled is because, "We're a compassionate country. The refugees laws are important laws and we don't want terrorists to dictate how we run--whether we have a law or not."
While throughout the interview Ryan seemed to ground his argument on the premise that we cannot apply a religious test as a basis for admissions to the United States, both Rush Limbaugh and Andrew McCarthy have explained how U.S. law does, in fact, require a religious test when it comes to making considerations about visa issuances.

I confronted the Bush approach in 2006, when George W. finally deigned to address the issues (Answer To President Bush On Immigration. It may sound conceited, but I believe that my analysis cuts to the "chase" better than most.
But regardless of the merits of any argument, there is a sworn duty on the part of everyone of us who has ever sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States, which definitely goes to a litmus test for any immigrant, and that is in the Constitutional purpose, defined in the Preamble. The language explicitly defines the purpose of the Constitutional union, as including securing the "Blessings Of Liberty," to "ourselves and our posterity."
Admitting large numbers of people who do not share the Founders' concept of what constitutes "liberty," can not seriously be argued as compliance with that purpose. The point is all the clearer when one looks at the higher birth rate of many of those being admitted--whether officially or clandestinely over the Southern border.
This is not an attack on either the Near Eastern Muslims, or the Mestizos. They have every right to their cultural differences. But we have a solemn duty to preserve the continuity and recognizable values of America.
We can offer friendship to all of humanity--so long as the respond appropriately. That does not mean pretending that we are interchangeable.
“Conservatives need to oppose this damned traitorâs reelection. If he canât be primaried I plan to donate to his his democrat opponent.”
Exactly! I think it is better to give up one seat and get a more conservative person next time.
And, if the next one is a rino, do it again and again until we win!
And Ryans 15 minutes are up, he joins his father back in the kook yard.
Ryan has a libertarian streak that comes to the surface once in a while.
I listened to it, and the actual context was about using ‘security’ as an issue and not ‘religion’ as an issue.
He did say that he would allow Muslims in, but I think he was trying to work around the accusation of a ‘religious test’.
Trump would have accepted the downside and said, “Yep, Christians will assimilate better.” or something like that. Ryan doesn’t have near the backbone that Trump does.
I agree! The Conservatives around the entire country need to take stock of who represents them and let’s vote them all out of office! Get a true TEA PARTY Conservative to run and replace them.
Everyone who endorsed him for Speaker knew he was. I saw him in the interview, and my blood boiled. I thought he was acting like a sanctimonious jerk.
They begged him to take it. In public anyway.
In private, he was chosen to be the scapegoat. The GOPe wants as many of these people as possible.
After the caucuses, I may leave the GOP. You can only play Charlie Brown trying to kick the football for so long till you realize it is futile.
What happened to what he said yesterday?
Get him out of there. Big mistake.
No, it isn’t the Iranians.
On youtube.com there are videos called The Money Masters. They are all about the New World Order. View them, then you’ll know who is buying the GOPe.
Ryan is Boehner minus the comic relief.
He’s not a traitor. He’s exactly what we all knew him to be. A RINO.
I don’t think Ryan has the stomach for wholesale resistance to his politics and constant, pressing media attention. The more he suffers from gridlock and protest the quicker he will get tired of it affecting his family life and resign.
This may be a short lived Speakership.
Ryan is doing the bidding of someone much higher than the American people: the NWO/Catholic Church/Pope. Pro-invasion is preached in Catholic churches across the country. The Catholic church is a huge beneficiary of tax dollars from refugee resettlement charities. I am not singling out the Catholic church because there are liberal protestant preachers, doing the same thing. However, Ryan is a Catholic, along with Boehner, and Rubio, too, so they have heard this pro-immigration banter a very long time.
Ryan is just pretend fighting.
Ryan is an insider who is BS’ing the voters with “magic words”.
Just another DC snake oil salesman.
The GOP is full of these frauds...they don’t represent us...they built a cushy little closed door fraternity where they cash in and could give a rats ass about what happens to the country. The GOP in my mind is a dead party...this Ryan hack...he needs to be removed with a giant kick in the rear.
Well, we have one more traitor to add to our list of those to hang when the inevitable revolution ensues.
All I saw in the article was “Hannity questioned Ryan....”
How did Hannity RESPOND to Ryan regurgitating all the Fraud’s words?
Immigration is the Holy Grail of the Increased Labor Supply Holds Down American Wages Party (RINOs).
They cannot accept ANY reduction in immigration, or someone might think it is possible to reduce immigration of another group.
So importing terrorists is an acceptable cost to ensure your wages are held down by illegal Mexicans.
