Mocking Republicans over this-as liberals spent much of yesterday doing on my Twitter stream-seems absurdly out of touch to a lot of people. Not just wingnut tea partiers, either, but plenty of ordinary centrists too. It makes them wonder if Democrats seriously see no problem here. Do they care at all about national security? Are they really that detached from reality?
The liberal response to this should be far more measured. We should support tight screening. Never mind that screening is already pretty tight. We should highlight the fact that we're accepting a pretty modest number of refugees. In general, we should act like this is a legitimate thing to be concerned about and then work from there.
Mocking it is the worst thing we could do. It validates all the worst stereotypes about liberals that we put political correctness ahead of national security. It doesn't matter if that's right or wrong. Ordinary people see the refugees as a common sense thing to be concerned about. We shouldn't respond by essentially calling them idiots. That way lies electoral disaster.

...who, I am convinced, have never heard of Ellis Island. Want to find out how they really feel about it? Suggest that yes, it would be appropriate to allow unlimited immigration of white genocide refugees from Zimbabwe and South Africa. See forehead veins bulge.
“Yep. If I ever overdose on Viagra and get one of those “longer than 4-hour” woodies, I have a “rescue” image of Hillary on hand to solve the problem. One glance and I’ll be back to normal.”
Well alllllright then!
Not on the basis of one somewhat-sensible-for-a-change article.
Besides, the author no doubt will get labeled a racist and won't appear on the pages again.
Apparently he doesn’t keep up with the news and is vulnerable to propaganda.
I hear this said, but nowhere do I see an actual description of the process.
Be sure to encourage all your lib friends to go to ballgames, concerts and everywhere there a large groups of people.
Viagra user: “Doc, I called you because after taking the
blue pill I’ve had an erection for six hours and it
won’t go away. What should I do?”
Doctor: “Look at a photo of Hillary Clinton and
call me in the morning.”
If he answers "Yes," he isn't allowed into the country.
Tight screening? What screening? They have no way to screen these people.
The only mitigating factor is that when they detonate something big in DC, NYC, Chicago or San Freakcisco they’ll get a lot more progressives than they’ll get of us.
No. The Progressive Puritans are a suicidal death cult.
I suspect it’s rather more of the latter. Watch for key themes and phrases used to advance their position. At this point filter out the ad hominem attacks as they’re meaningless in this context. You will begin to notice themes and key words repeating from a wide variety of users and across a broad spectrum of sites. The more you look for it, the more apparent it becomes.
These are not random bots grasping the daily meme from Dear Leader. They are paid, true believers working from a list of approved talking points typing their way into hearts and minds of the rhetorically challenged.
Once you’ve mastered this element of the exercise, turn your attention to the personal attacks. Their number and ferocity is an indicator of the importance and priority assigned to that particular subject. Here, the particular language is not as important as its emotional heat. The more quickly they’re willing to jump to calling you an idiot, moron, teabagger, or racist, the more critical the subject is to the agenda of their owners.
Hope this helps! Happy hunting.
Depends on what your paper decides to print.
If the liberal Indianapolis Star gets 95 Conservative letters to the editor and 5 Liberal ones about a certain topic; it'll print the 5 liberal ones.
The bias is so blatant, it has ceased to be funny.
Oh I’m talking about my local Gannett online news. It has gotten so bad in the comments section that when you go there now, they are just spouting off in agreement with each other. News items that used to get 1000 comments will now receive about 40, all mocking the “illiterate, racist teabaggers” and patting each other on the back for their enormous intellects.
I’ve reached a point in my life where I can’t help but be convinced that a large chunk of the human race is just plain f***ing stupid.
Yup; Gannett controls IndyStar
This person needs to stay up with the news before pontificating - doesn't seem to be aware that Obama and his supporters have deemed that tight screening wouldn't make us safer and would only delay any budding terrorists unnecessarily...
Next November can get here fast enough and then waiting for the swearing in will seem like an eternity as he flails to complete his destruction of us.
Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader
PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....
GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!
