Donald Trump on Tuesday named Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) when asked about his possible running mate in 2016.
âTed Cruz is now agreeing with me 100 percent,â he said when asked about his vice presidential pick, according to Lifezette.
âWell, I like him,â Trump told radio host Laura Ingraham during her broadcast. "Heâs backed everything Iâve said.â Unlike most of the Republican presidential hopefuls, Cruz has mostly refrained from attacking Trump, even appearing alongside him at a rally in September against the Iran nuclear deal.
The pair has also struck similar tones on topics such as border security and illegal immigration.
Still, Trump suggested late Monday that he will turn on Cruz if he becomes a threat to his front-runner status.
âIf he catches on, I guess weâll have to go to war,â he told host Joe Kernen on CNBCâs âSquawk Box.â

Well put. ;-)
......”Think long term, Cruz supporters. This is how to do it”.....
Ah No...I don’t agree with Cruz being VP....but moreso Trump being Pres. The other way around I could live with.
We don’t have ‘time’ to waste while Trump “learns” how to navigate Washington’s landminds.....and stumble around getting his bearings just in the basics as he’s been doing in his run.
I don’t see Trump sitting behind a desk in Washington...but as VP he could do what he’s wired to do...travel and make all these deals he’s always crowing about.
Cruz is already with his team to hit the ground running....his people are already there ready to go once he’s seated. ..and he knows exactly what needs to be done ‘quickly’, and ‘how’ to manuver the “jungle land”. He’s been fighting the enemy within on both sides of the isle and he knows who they are.
“Time” is critical .....we don’t have the time while Trump “learns” the ropes, and even where they are.
Indeed.
Frightening.
I’ve thought from the beginning that Trump might go for Cruz for a VP to give him a person compatible with Trump’s platform who knows how Washington works much better than Trump. Trump is a top level executive, he knows how to pick the right people for the right job.
Go, Trump, GO! Go, Cruz, GO! Winning ticket!
You're going to take a beating over that one. Lolz
Not necessarily. Trump is a CEO and knows that a great company is run with a great team. He knows that Cruz has a great mind and knows the constitution and our laws. Cruz’s supreme court record has impressed Trump. If Trump is as smart as everyone says, and a great leader, he knows how valuable Cruz would be on his team and to his make America great again agenda. All based on IF Trump gets the nomination.
Maybe you can point out the the prior election where we asked a candidate to tackle what we’re asking Trump to tackle. Add to that the cr@pstorm I see on the way, and a strong ego is a necessity. And please help my ignorance, SOCOM?
“Baby, won’t you let me take you an a Trump Cruz?” Ooh-eee!
Laughed out loud, but then reality hit me. Will living in the presence of true greatness be recognized by Trump. Being in the WH would actually drive me to tears (being in Jerusalem and seeing the Wailing Wall would drive me to my knees) but how do you think Trump will react? Is America being great again simply economics and defense? Just wondering.
What’s totally wrong? That Trump gets his talking points from Cruz.
Cruz has been a conservative in some ways, but not consistently. Trump has taken up the issues that are most pressing at the moment, and is not bribable. He has no superpac. He doesn’t have to be reelected. He doesn’t need money. That has made him a stand-alone candidate who can freely say whatever he thinks America should do and be.
And Cruz knows he can’t fight these arguments—he must adopt them as his own. Now I see he has a little brigade here to confuse that issue.
My prediction is that Trump will not pick Cruz as his running mate but wait to see which states are most borderline and pick someone from one of those states. He will not pick a black or a woman just to be PC. Not only is that a losing tactic but it negates the whole principle of intelligent voting and selection.
I like Christie but I’m not sure NJ will be a borderline state. Too blue, in spite of their Republican governor. Anyway, it’s way too early for that.
LOL! How many primaries have you followed? LOL!!
Calling what all this country needs fixing, in order to survive, a “whine”, is oddly unpatriotic sounding, if that’s what you mean.
If you’re calling Trump, when he plays a little primary hardball, whining, seems a little over sensitive for politics.
You have bigger fish to fry.
Cruz needs to broaden his base, and climb out of that single digit 7% hole, first, (on the Reuters 5 Day Rolling Poll), and then put away Rubio, and then catch Carson, before you’re even in fit shape to start your bark at the gladiator, TRUMP.
I’m rather expecting Trump-Sessions, 2016.
PRICELESS!! I love that!
<<< “Trump considers it an âattackâ if you get close to him in the polls... “ >>>
I know! Don’t you love that about him! No candidate has the guts to bring up their polls, even when they have a good one, for more than once, knowing they go up and down.
Trump doesn’t give a handsome damn, because he knows he’s the best, he’s what the country must rely on for real leadership, and he knows that WE KNOW IT. In HUUUUUGE numbers! Gosh this is fun!
Or drinking YUUGIE TRUMP KOOLAID.
Why does Trump feel threatened and the need to go to war with Ted Cruz when Ted Cruz rises in the polls ?
Some of his supporters say Ted Cruz won’t get the nomination of win the presidency ?
Why does Trump have to act like he owns the presidency and act like a bully who comes close in the polls and threaten war on them ?
LOL!! “THE BIG CHICKEN”! ROTFL!! Haven’t heard that term in ages. Marvelous!
I posted upthread that this article has the Trump/Ingraham interview wrong...Trump was asked, and said it’s too early to name anyone...that he wants to achieve the victory first - then look at that.
