Ben Carson may be a pro-life Republican presidential candidate when it comes to the issue of abortions, but new comments the doctor made over the weekend about the Terri Schiavo case are causing concerns for pro-life voters.
Carson thinks the federal and state governments overreached when they attempted to protect Terri Schiavo from a painful 14-day starvation and dehydration death. Despite the best efforts of pro-life lawmakers in Congress and the Florida state legislature, where lawmakers approved pro-life laws to allow Terriâs family to take their case to federal courts and to allow then-Governor Jeb Bush to try to protect her, Terriâs estranged husband won a court order to euthanize her against her will.
The Washington Post reports that a local reporter caught up with Carson about the infamous case when he was in town in Florida for a speaking engagement. From the report:
âWe face those kinds of issues all the time and while I donât believe in euthanasia, you have to recognize that people that are in that condition do have a series of medical problems that occur that will take them out,â he said. âYour job [as a doctor] is to keep them comfortable throughout that process and not to treat everything that comes up.â
When the reporter asked whether Carson thought it was necessary for Congress to intervene, he said: âI donât think it needed to get to that level. I think it was much ado about nothing.â
Carsonâs comments are very upsetting to TerrI Schiavoâs brother, Bobby Schindler, who is now a pro-life advocate working directly with disabled patients and their families to protect them from having their right to life revoked as happened to Terri.

âDr. Ben Carson owes pro-life and medically vulnerable Americans an apology. Similarly, any pro-lifer supporting his campaign should take another look at the candidateâs values,â he said, adding that âCarson marginalized Terri Schiavo and other struggling and medically vulnerable patients.
Its a shame he didn’t come out with this statement a few months back. We could have relegated him to the dustbin sometime ago.
I must say that I’m getting tired of hearing crazy crap spew from this fool :-/
He seemed so sane and normal just a few weeks ago....
Dr. Dyckhaid doesnt get my vote. JERK
Yeb, now available in black.
Maybe Carson could channel Terri to ask her how it felt to die from dehydration and starvation.
One would think that a statement like that would cause people to reconsider their support.
NONSENSE.
“One would think that a statement like that would cause people to reconsider their support.”
Two problems. The liberals stations could care less about pro-life issues, and secondly, Fox News will not mention it because they want Carson to stay in to hurt Trump’s chances. All of Fox News, to include Bloody Megyn have repeatedly said how awful it was that Terri Schiavo was starved to death. I’ve already emailed and tweeted the various Fox shows. I’ll be surprised if it’s mentioned by anyone.
On FOX, yesterday afternoon, he was asked what he’d do about ISIS if he were president. After stumbling around a while and the reporter asking him multiple times, he finally settled on an answer - that he’d stage it on... drum roll please... social media.
What makes Carson’s statement even worse is that he is a world-renowned neurosurgeon. So, there will be some who hear what he says and think, “if the best neurosurgeon in the world thinks that this was no big deal, then I guess it was no big deal.”
Of course, he was not Terri’s doctor, and (as far as I know) did not even consult on her case, so his word as a doctor should carry no extra weight, but to some, it will.
What’s the “NONSENSE”?
“euthanasia”? Or “against her will”?
Here’s the deal Ben, running for president is no big deal either. So you’ll pardon me if I vote for Trump or Cruz! Unlike you, they ARE BIG DEAL’s!
I’m the first to acknowledge that there are some occasional very difficult cases
but I will NOT vote for Jeb or even the good doctor Carson... they appear to have little genuine concern or compassion for human life
.
Vanity) : Donald Trump is FORCING Dr. Ben Carson’s Exit : Why ? To KEEP Ted Cruz at Number Two !

So Carson thinks starvation and dehydration are no big deal, huh?
Sheesh can’t we put this one to bed already? If anything should convince the religious of Iowa this should be it. But maybe they are “stupid” like Trump says.
I can only hope Dr. Carson dies the same slow Euphoric death from starvation that Teri Schiavo did. And when he does I hope the media is as giddy of the latest news on his kidney’s output as they were back then. I thought Carson had a soul, but it appears I was wrong.
Carson is a clown and has always been one.
