Doctors who could see far enough ahead starting quitting over ten years ago.
Not one of the docs I know who are 'retiring' is going to work for a hospital. They are quitting medicine. Some are in their early 50's. Those in their 40's are very unhappy but just got through paying off school loans and are putting their kids through school. Once the kids are on their own those docs are quitting.

As cash they probably won’t have admission rights to any hospitals. A big deal for many.
Historically, the first people called doctors in this world were Ph.D.s, before medical doctors came along.
I am a Ph.D., the kind who can’t do anything (according to you). :o)
If I were a doctor, I’d probably go GP. No need for hospitals, if you’re a little country doctor.
I’ve been commenting on this for years and I still don’t know why it hasn’t become a higher profile story. It’s happening to me and everybody I know. Every few months I get a note saying my doctor is leaving practice for retirement. I think it’s been four different doctors in the last three years. Now the hard part is finding a doctor that speaks English.
So if a patient needs surgery or has a heart attack you couldn’t help them.
My aging mom has lost three doctors in three years. The obama voters have thrown the elderly off the cliff.
Plus more time for the accountant and more time for the lawyer...
0dumboCare has increased health care costs astronomically.
On my last doctor visit, he picked up a piece of paper on his desk that had the new treatment codes mandated by Obamacare and mumbled something about how it was slowing everything down.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you know of any others who have made claims with them?
Trump would fix immigration, but immigration if it's the only thing killing the country, Obamacare is killing some of it faster. How can someone like Trump fix it, he thinks of healthcare contract line item and having a few preset packages to choose from makes the negotiation easier. He doesn't know whether there's any quality attached to those packages at all. Sure they specify a list of services, but can you get them when and where you need them? Are the providers any good and will they treat you as a patient or merely as a customer? He'd never know for the employees but the quality of care for his own family is 'the best, now.' No middlemen impact his care. Which he's earned. Trump said he had heard healthcare was fine in Canada and Scotland. For HIS friends it would be. I know differently. Healthcare was broken before Obamacare moved everything 180° in the wrong direction. It's not his priority, in fact it's not a priority for any of the candidates, except Cruz. Cruz will also fix immigration well enough and a whole lot of other big government disasters if he gets a good mandate. The rinos who hate him are mostly moderate squishes and should squish easily once he has the power and the mandate. As they did with Reagan.
I hope I got the rant written properly, my computer is also out sick and I'm used to reading, not writing, on the pad.
I’ve lost 3 doctors this past year. My primary care doc & two specialists. My parents lost a doctor as well. My primary care doctor is only in his 40’s.
Doctors are getting more difficult to get an appt. with. A couple of specialists have a 3 month wait.
Do general practitioners do surgery?

Bump
No but they refer patients to surgeons and are responsible for managing the care while you are in the hospital.
They no longer supervise hospital care. Hospitalists do that.
