I think K-sick and Carson should exchange medications. It would help them both out a lot!

I agree 100% with you!

I wish the candidates would agree with US!

But I think any publicity is good publicity to them, so they allow it.

I used my mute button last night for Kasich and Little Jebbie. Next time I will use it for Carson too because the stuff about him and the stuff he is saying now is just waa waa. Cruz or Trump. I am done. I only listen to Rubes as I am waiting for him to step in it and be gone.

I was referring to the former, but I suppose that you’re correct about Snarly.

I was in psychotherapy training in the 1980s, time of Jim Jones, EST, Scientology, etc. One trainee asked, “How can you tell if a group is a cult?” The answer was that if it was not a cult, when you wanted to leave, the leaders would wish you good luck and goodbye, but say you are welcome to come back if you wish or need more of what we offer. So how would your church or even congregation treat you if you wanted to leave?

Yeah; that’s good evidence of a cult. We studied cults when I was in seminary, but that was in the ‘60s and I don’t recall much.

The truly scary one is Scientology especially when one leaves or tries to.

— if Putin wants to go in, and I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes, we were stablemates, and we did very well that night.

That's what he said.... I think he was joking. Don't you?

Just wanted to say that the opening for this debate was beautifully done.
Just excellent in every way.

Look, you can try to excuse Trump on this issue all you like,

Notice that you do not have a rational reply to my points. It's cute to say that private property is inalienable, but you must be able to explain support for the Keystone Pipeline or the border wall when you do so, otherwise your position is simple hypocrisy from the get-go. You must also be able to explain why having an anti-eminent domain President is important. What it is you expect them to do, that the States are not already doing for themselves. If you're objection is simply a philosophical thing, remember that your philosophy is already rendered stupid by support for Keystone.

..For example, let’s say “Joe’s” business involves a lot of travel. Can he deduct or “expense” travel expenses? What are the rules, fair rules, for what is allowable or not?

What about depreciation of inventory? Just ignore it?..

And that folks is how you end up with a tax code with more pages than the Bible.

I have to ask. Do you work for H & R Block or have your own tax accounting business? These are the types I believe will not be happy with a simpler tax code.

What makes this work so well is that most of these deductions go away. The tax rate gets lowered and it is supposed to balance out.

I have a couple of things I don’t like about Cruz’s plan. I think that everyone who has income should pay some tax. Everyone should have skin in the game. I also think that if you are going still allow deductions for mortgage interest and charitable deduction you are just asking for more to be added next year and the next and the next until we end up at the same place we are now.

If you disagree with his tax plan fine. You can disagree but do you have to call him a liar?

.In any case, I don’t care if the President belongs to a cult, as long as he strictly honors the Constitution.

Wouldn’t that show a weakness of mind? Would you really want someone like that in charge? My goodness.

Did you watch Cruz at the Heritage event? You can’t tell me he wasn’t appealing in that venue, which more closely resembles what it would look like for him once the field whittles down.

I stand corrected on the title of his major, although apparently, the emphasis on finance has been his strong suit thus far. Please accept my apology.

Thank you for the links clarifying the nomenclature of Trump's degree. See post 3135.

Oh, my. I have really shown my lace on this one. I’ve certainly been guilty of a few bloopers in my time on FR, but this one is the most calamitous.

I was dead wrong. I’m terribly sorry, and more than embarrassed. I have no earthly explanation, which makes it worse. In and out today, but in catching early news this morning, I began to get that sinking feeling of face palm, as no one reported on what I *thought* I heard!

Our TV is in another room from my computer, but still very close. I was typing and following the debate. I thought that was what he said. I barked about it throughout the debate on the FR thread. No one picked up on it, to correct me all night long.

You have done a lot of work transcribing his discussion on the subject, and this is the first I was able to read or hear of exactly what he really said. I’m so sorry, and I appreciate you taking the time to straighten me out on this stupid blunder of mine. Thanks, so much.

If you ever need a designated driver, I owe you one. %:D)
Rita.

Twist, twist, twist.

#1: Are you kidding? My preference is for a Federal end user sales tax. THEN you can cut IRS by 90% or more. If you think I enjoy the nightmare of doing my own income taxes for my (very) small business (I can’t afford an accountant, tax lawyer, etc.) you are out of your mind. This is not to mention the power the IRS has and abuses, and that it’s now wrapped up with health care. (Blankety-blank Obama!!!)

#2: I make & fix stuff (physical items). And in the spirit of disclosure, I do help my Mom with her tax returns, for free.

#3: Quote back to me where I said Cruz was a liar. I did not. I said his plan as presented was hopelessly inadequate. It does not address income determination (or definition) in a large variety of circumstances. FWIW, it does not appear to me that anyone else’s income tax reforms are any better in this respect.

#4 “Determination of Income” can be made simpler — it WAS somewhat simpler when I started doing my own business taxes almost 40 years ago. However, it just cannot be made one page simple and yet be fair to everyone, or even most everyone, especially those owning small businesses. Circumstances and situations vary too widely for that to ever happen. For one thing, Determination of Income is often heavily dependent on what I’ll call “determination of expenses”, which is what I was getting at in my earlier post. What expenses are “allowed”? How would you handle a business investing in itself heavily, whose expenses actually exceeded their gross receipts for, say, 2015? Would you tax them the same as the business now on cruise control (pun NOT intended!) that has 1/5 the expenses? The impossibility of making “determination of income” “simple” and still fair is is part of the reason I support a Federal end user sales tax, and elimination of the income tax (at least for earned income.) This, even though someone like me, still(!) sometimes heavily investing in their business, is at a big disadvantage under a sales tax plan (as expenses for equipment and such would not be fully or even mostly deductible.)

Where I do agree with you is that everyone should have at least some skin in the game, and that if any deductions beyond the standard deduction & exemption are allowed under an income tax regimen, more will be added with time.

Now, I have been much more polite here than I should. If you care to respond, you could at least reciprocate.

If the MSM can’t find ONE qualified conservative journalist to moderate the next debate I’m not watching.

This is too insulting.

Cavuto comes across as a smarmy RINO shill, so how is he conservative? He second guessed both Carson and Trump and ended up looking like an idiot on the first questions he gave both of them. Some conservative, NOT! BTW you need new glasses if you think he looks like a conservative or an ear appointment if you think he sounds like one.
