Trump sees a nation swirling the bowl and rather than stay in his world continuing to make his money, he lowers himself into the sewer of politics to do the right thing.

Say what you want, Trump’s positions are more conservative than most of the other candidates.

Good observation!

Watching Luntz and his clown panel now, and wouldn’t ya know, most of them “switched” to Rubio (from Bush), because he’s SO inspirational and showed energy and charisma. He has the ability to connect.

Jeesh....apparently it’s more important to be an “entertainer” than it is to be concise and conservative.

I’ve been watching Cavuto since the mid 1980’s. I can’t imagine a conservative not liking him.

Who will deliver on promises once in office. The one not taking donor money Trump!!!!

They are all drowning in special interest money. This is an very inconvenient reality.

I also think that Trump and Cruz have got some kind of tag team deal going. Not sure what it is but they have some kind of understanding.

You can tell Trump really admires Cruz. It's a natural yin/yang team. I can just see Trump in the Oval Office asking Cruz about Senate rules or some such and Cruz asking Trump about fine tuning a Trade Agreement with China. I bet their conversations would be dynamite, simpatico if you will.

Trump and Cruz are the smartest guys in the room, and that room is pretty smart!

Cobra forgot what I said upthread, already. It is the WILL to deport.

Only ONE up there has the will and the world knows exactly who that ONE is.

Now Trump knows that certain ones deported will cause other to follow in a self-deport process.

It worked for Ike and it will work for Trump. It’s that WILL to DEPORT that makes the wheels turn.

Cruz is for closing the border, enforcing border security and border laws, but is all about legalizing the illegals, known as Dreamers. Dreamers are college age who have chosen to remain illegal, after years of advantages of citizens. Cruz is no threat to the off-spring ages, pouring across our borders over the last two damn summers.

Trump is not a debater. He is an idea man. The small in the weeds details are for those managers that he hires. He understands the big picture and where he wants to go. That is why I think he keeps his answers simple so that all potential voters can grasp and understand his position. Talking about Dodd Frank, etc goes over most folks heads (not those here of course).

That is Trump’s strategy I think. I am a Trump supporter but am getting little tired of hearing the same answers from him. He needs to come up with a few more answers. His statement regarding that we are a nation of laws probably went over well. Legal versus illegal probably went over well. He stayed away from the debbie-doubters saying that it can’t be done by mentioning Ike. That was smart. He doesn’t want to say how he plans on moving illegals out because then that starts endless news cycles on why that can’t be done. Better for him to keep it vague. Those that support the premise will continue to do so. Those that want illegals as their neighbors will never vote for him anyway.

But face it, Trump is not a debater—there are others that can rattle off stats and countries like they were items off a Chinese menu till your eyes glaze over.

Regarding Putin: I think Trump is a realpolitik thinker in this respect. Syria has been a client state of the Soviet Union for decades as Israel has been ours. Having Russia involved in Syria doesn’t bother Trump...The US has made a mess of the region thanks to Obama. Trump says we don’t even know who the players are...Rand Paul states the same. Botha re correct in this situation I think. Trying to get tough with Russia over what is happening in Syria is the wrong move. Isn’t it after all, all about where to run a pipeline? Isn’t that we want Assad out? So we can run a pipeline through Syria....

I think Trump and Putin would get together as they would both respect each other. I think, like Reagan, Trump would be able to deal realistically with Russia. Russia has to win something in a deal, as well as the US. Trump realizes that. It is the Art of the Deal...

I was disappointed in Trump’s showing tonight. He did not hurt himself but did not blow anyone away either.

Ranking those who will score well (not how I like them):

Rubio/Cruz....1st tier
Carson/Paul/trump.....2nd tier
Fiorino 3rd
Bush 4th
Kasich Fifth (tried to hard)

Luntz’s focus group is a case study in GROUPTHINK.

Good thing he’s a GOPe shill or his income collapses.

Since the audience was obviously set up for GOPe candidates I would imagine Luntz group was too.

Just like the first FOX debate.

Fix News went in with two objectives. Say Rubio had won and Carson did better than expected and would be going up in the polls. And of course saying Trump lost.

The truth of the matter is Trump was the only one on stage that was a master of economics (what the debate was supposed to be about). He looked like a professor talking to students. He was the only one I could imagine as president. He commands respects and presents an image of authority. No doubt if he has went in the military he would have retired as a full general.
