Starbucks started its holiday cup tradition in 1997--so âthis year's design is another way Starbucks is inviting customers to create their own stories with a red cup that mimics a blank canvas.â Itâs also worth noting previous Starbucks red cups lacked any outright Christian symbolism.
Jeffrey Fields, Starbucks vice president of design and content, said in the release that in the past the holiday cups have told stories. This year, Starbucks âwanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories," Fields wrote. He said that the coffee chain âhas become a place of sanctuary during the holidays,â so itâs âembracing the simplicity and the quietness of it.â

Starbuck.....wasn’t he on Battlestar Galatica?
It’s a Coffee Cult.
I don’t buy the premise of this issue....that sane, Christian people are actually upset about these cups.

Well, that settles it then; Starbucks is my new Church for all Christian Holy Days!
These people are really beyond the pale...
The responses to the first thread on this subject
were pretty well unanimous. Big hoo-hah over nothing.
Starbucks is a “progressive” and therefore anti-Christian company. To complain that they dismiss Christmas is like complaining about the lack of a cross on the local mosque.
Starbucks is a commie company run by a commie CEO that sells overpriced bitter tasting coffee.
The coffee at places like Seven/Eleven and Dunkin Donuts tastes a lot better and is a lot less expensive.
“I donât buy the premise of this issue....that sane, Christian people are actually upset about these cups.”
Agreed. Starbucks is just one of many PC companies that I don’t buy from anymore. That is the sum and end of their significance.
Does anyone really expect liberal StarBucks to put Merry Christmas on its cups.
I’ve been getting coffee for nearly 30 years. I don’t think I ever took the time to look at the paper cup it comes in. Should I?
Wonder if they have an atheist cup if I asked for one?
Star*ucks, a place of sanctuary during the Holy Days, where atheists, communists, muzzies and satanists can be comfortable in an atmosphere where Christ is forbidden! Seriously is there no where else that otherwise intelligent people can buy burned crappy coffee for less money and drama?
i don’t either...furthermore i don’t buy anything at Starbucks...
I don’t buy their product and suggest that if anyone is upset with them they do the same.
What color are the cups during Ramadan?
You have to tell them your name is Merry Christmas and they write your name on your cup.
Presto !
Pretty creative, they stole the idea from Solo and Toby Keith. Very lame.
