Mob hitman who says he was the man on the grassy knoll and killed JFK to be released - and he still insists he did it

A man who claims he assassinated President John F. Kennedy has been moved this week from a high security jail to a less secure one in Illinois in preparation for his release next spring after 36 years behind bars.

James Files, 72, says that he was the man on the grassy knoll back on November 22, 1963, and that he fired the bullet into Kennedy's head that ultimately killed him.

Now, the CIA and other US secret agencies are preparing for scores of conspiracy theories as Files identifies himself yet again as the missing piece of the Kennedy story.

Often I wondered why JFK’s head went backwards as if shot from the front. When I saw a re-enactment video with a dummy’s head it also moved backwards when shot from the rear. So I’m convinced Oswald only did the shooting.

Interesting. That is the one item that has always lead me to accept that another gunman was involved. I don't understand how it works that a head would move backwards when shot from the back .. unless the car accelerated at exactly that point in time. I will check it out. Thanks.

On the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, there was a documentary made about the so-called man on the grassy knoll.

The investigators had a 1963-era limo similar to the one JFK rode in, and they placed two high-tech manniquins in the back seat of the limo, complete with green paint in their heads to imitate blood.

Then a member of the team fired rounds at the limo from the grassy knoll.

Their conclusion: if there was a shooter on the grassy knoll, the round (s) would have gone through Jackie Kennedy’s head BEFORE it (they) hit JFK, from the vantage point of the grassy knoll.

I don't think that we'll ever really know the truth. Too many weird facts that don't mesh:

Oswald returns from defecting to the Soviet Union and gets to bring his wife and no problem.

Oswald writes a fairly coherent report of his time in the Soviet Union with lots of critical detail of the Soviet system, yet he's a "committed Marxist".

He is next seen in New Orleans as the one-man member of the "Fair Play for Cuba" organization, conveniently located downstairs from the local FBI offices.

Even more interestingly, there's a one-hour film out there of Oswald discussing his political positions. Wow. Film - how lucky is that?

Then, my favorite of them all - less than the time it takes to describe it, he's killed while in police custody right in front of news cameras!

Sure is convincing that he did it.

I see how that could have happened. Oswald shoots, the sound hits the bridge abutment, concrete wall wood fence, echos back and sounds like a shot came from there.

I have that happen quite often where I live. It sounds like shots fired in my pasture but it is just shot sounds from other property bouncing off my barn behind my house.

Probably his post-shooting justification for what was really an impulsive act. He was known for being impulsive and going off half-cocked, so to speak.

As to Oswald's being critical of the Soviet Union, yet being a "committed Marxist"...is that any surprise? When have we not known a member of the cult of Marx to keep declaring, in the face of another bloody failure, that "true Marxism" has "never been tried" and move on to their next object of collectivist worship? Following the exposure of the Soviet Union as a Stalinist charnel house with its own imperialist ambitions, the next object of unrequited love for leftists was Third World socialism...most notably Castro's Cuba.

The way I heard it, Ruby was told he was a dead man anyway and if he didn't do it, his entire family would be killed as well. But if he did do it, his family would be spared.

Sounds plausible, but no idea if it is grounded in fact.

Jack Ruby was a Mob guy only in his own head. He killed Oswald for the same reason Oswald killed Kennedy. He thought he would go down in history as a hero.
