It was the 1960s. Ben Carson, 14-year-old ninth grader, was growing up rough in Detroit. And, one fateful day, the future neurosurgeon and Republican presidential contender got very, very angry.
The argument, like many among teenagers, was about nothing: what radio station to listen to. Carson's friend Bob dared turn the dial on the transistor radio.
"You call that music?" Bob said.
"It's better than what you like!" Carson yelled back, grabbing for the dial.
That could have been it - good friends have argued about greater things and quickly made up. But Carson found himself consumed by rage.
"In that instant blind anger - pathological anger - took possession of me," he wrote in "Gifted Hands," his 1990 biography. "Grabbing the camping knife I carried in my back pocket, I snapped it open and lunged for the boy who had been my friend. With all the power of my young muscles, I thrust the knife toward his belly. The knife hit his big, heavy ROTC buckle with such force that the blade snapped and dropped to the ground."
His friend - and his own future - saved by a belt buckle, Carson said the incident led him to get his temper under control with the help of god.
"I stared at the broken blade and went weak,†Carson wrote. "I had almost killed him. I had almost killed my friend."
The knife story - along with tales of how Carson punched someone, threw rocks and tried to hit his mother with a hammer - are essential stops on Carson's road to redemption that makes him such an appealing candidate to some. The knife even made its way into a TV movie about Carson. But now CNN, which mounted an investigation of the story, claims it cannot find Carson's purported

He was 14 years old - we don’t even know if he had a juvie record - did anyone ever call the cops when he was committing these tantrums? Probably not, since it was the ghetto in Detroit. Besides, it was 50 years ago. Now, I wish the media would have dug into BHO’s background as well as into Hillary’s.
Still waiting to hear all about Obama's grandparents and how many times they moved to be near this or that giant Navy communications station .... how they put their slut daughter in a Communist-run school ..... how Obama got his Social Security number and Selective Service (falsified) registration.
I want to hear all about his college financial support and how he got it, and I want to see that Indonesian passport he was using for 10 years after he returned from Jakarta (where his mother spent the second half of her life).

Carson may portray a calm and cool demeanor today but what concerns me is he hiding that prior rage of his younger days.
I had a brother that was calm “most” of the time but you did not want to cross him, doing so let out the Lion in him and he had a terrible temper. I have my doubts about Carson being like my brother.
But if you want to cut somebody long, deep, and continuous--be a surgeon.
What I can’t find on Carson’s site where he says deportation is moral low ground and wants to create guest workers, is what is his plan for all the illegals here living on welfare who never intend to work.
Although I don’t support him for President, I find his accomplishments as a doctor compelling. The MSM suck trying to verify or disprove his violent youth. With or without a violent past he still is an accomplished man.
What is ANYONE’s plan for welfare kings and queens?
Carson has been consistent on these stories of his for at least 30 years, never varying, never wavering, never waffling.
The point he made when he first confessed to these things was that he, a poor child of a single mother from a poor crime-ridden section of the country, was well on his way to the destination that the vast majority of black males in that same situation were - a criminal, possibly murderous, street thug. But God showed him a different path and he chose it. A redemption story that should be a warning and ultimately an inspiration to the listener.
What is ANYONE’s plan for welfare kings and queens?
And what can work?

And what I’m saying is that I’m not sure what Dr. Carson’s agenda is. But I don’t think it’s Constitutional Conservative, so he’s on the list I’ll criticize.
Disqualifying.
