Other than their pitchers, who all got hot towards the end of the season, the Mets really are not a great team, they have a poor offense and terrible defense.

True. They were no- hit the last week of the season weren't they? But they got hot at the right time and rolled into The Series.

I agree. I wanted him to go for at the time. People say he would have been out, but it would have taken a good throw. Look at how the Giants kicked the ball around in the outfield during that triple. They were not in the condition to make a good throw. I think Hosmer’s play, forcing Duda to make a good throw, showed there was a good chance Gordon would have scored. Instead, we left it up to Perez which meant only a 25% chance of scoring. And so what if he would have been out? Wouldn’t that have been a better way to when the series than a pop-foul?

Way to go Royals. I’m a Reds fan, so another small market team. It’s good to see an organization that can overcome the money advantages of the large markets teams.

Did you notice at the end of the game all the Royals fans were sitting behind the dugout?

The Royals came from behind in seven of their eleven playoff wins. In the series they scored 15 runs in the 8th inning or later to the Mets single run in game one. That's what championship teams do.

That's impressive. Not high-percentage baseball, but a testament to their perseverance and the weakness of the Mets bullpen. And also, that the Royals pounced on any opportunity the Mets provided via poor defense - see Murphy's error in Game 4 or last night's ninth inning.

Also, Murphy cost the Mets a game, I forget which, when he didn’t make an error, just didn’t throw to the cutoff man. Allowed the go ahead run to score from second, and that was the final score for a loss.

long delay between the NLCS where the Mets swept the Cubs and the first game of the series, six days later, was a killer- hurt the teams momentum and the pitchers were out of synch...

I was saying this before the series started, advantage Royals. Sitting too long is bad, the sweat gets cold.

No! Never at a “neutral” site.

Each field has its one nuances, corners, wind patterns, AND FANS! The World Series being played in both parks (w/home field advantage being won by the Division winning the All Star Game) is brilliant and better never change.

And congrats to the KC Royals on a decisive Series!

And, once again, this Pirate fan is “waiting til next year...”

Ah. Then, yes...three idiots.

I don’t want to be lumped in with them.

I’m with you, Pennsylvania Mom. No “neutral sites” for baseball!

LOL....funny how Maher dyed his hair (isn’t it normally grey/white?) for the occasion of being out with Michael Moore...who also (obviously) dyes his hideous hair, too.

The Mets road good starting pitching and powerful, if streaky, hitting to the World Series. That can hide lack of bullpen and lack of defense only so far. But what the Mets really lacked was heart. They couldn't battle back from adversity. They didn't have faith in themselves as a team.

I attended a game in the astrodome in its first year of operation. I don’t remember for certain who they played, but the dome was very impressive to that young kid.

Agreed.. & you let an injured player who obviously can’t run or barely put pressure on leg stay in game?? Collins should be faulted more for that decision rather than letting Harvey stay in.
Stupid..
He should’ve at least tried a bunt but even then, he could barely walk!

Harvey, Collins and the Mets forgot this wasn't a movie out of Hollywierd, it was/is real life and our Royals played like the championship team they are.

No excuses, no whiners, no superstars, just all around good baseball and a real pleasure to watch as they pull out another victory for their hometown team.

Something a little like that happened to me at Fenway long ago.A foul came up my way during batting practice and I went to get it for my nephew.A young kid and I arrived at the ball at the exact same time and I used a bit of strength to get it from him.In reality*he* should have gotten the ball.My conscience bothered me afterward and I finally tossed the ball to him.Although I wasn't aware of having attracted any attention a number of people in that section cheered when I did so.

I'm not always a *complete* SOB.

First time since 1961 that an American League team lost game seven in the year before, to come back the next year and win!

Congrats Royals, Congrats KC!

The “it’s a good play or a bad play” decision shouldn’t take the outcome into effect. It can’t be a good play because he scored or a bad play because he didn’t. The right play is to stay at 3rd.
