Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump are tied at the top of the latest 2016 GOP Presidential poll released Friday night by NBC News.
With 26% each, Trump and Carson have the support of over half of the voters polled, an impressive feat in a crowded field.
According to Politico:
âDonald Trump and Ben Carson together command more than half of votersâ preference atop the Republican field after Wednesday nightâs debate, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz rose to third place in the latest national NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll released Friday evening.
In a survey of Republicans and Republican-leaning independent voters, Trump and Carson both earned 26 percent, while Cruz took 10 percent. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio followed with 9 percent, trailed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (5 percent), Carly Fiorina (4 percent) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (all at 2 percent).â
The article notes poll respondents thought Cruz won the debate:
Cruzâs stronger showing could be in large part due to the 24 percent of the 1,226 Republicans and leaners who said that he did the best job at the CNBC debate, a larger share than any other candidate. Rubio finished close behind in that regard, with 20 percent. Asked who did the worst, 38 percent picked Bush.â

If anything has been dug up from the very shallow grave of Clinton misdeeds, it is premature to publicize it. But you bet there is plenty to make Ads against Carson if he remains front runner. As my previous post posits, Carson has taken votes away from Bush, Kasich & Fiorino. From Trump’s point of view, it is best to keep Carson raiding those 3 tents.
>>Carson is a fine man, but he is not a street fighter. We need a street fighter to defeat Hillary and the rotten lowlife Democrats. <<
People now know that she’s a lowlife. For that reason, I think we need a thoroughly honest candidate that people will respect. And for that reason, I think Dr. Carson would beat her, perhaps quite easily.
At this point anyone who thinks Bush will be the eventual nominee in a poll has only a phone and no other means of communication.
I would give Trump a high percentage chance of being the nominee but a very low percentage chance that I would vote for him.
Dirt on Hillary Clinton is irrelevant, for two reasons.
1. The MSM won't report it.
2. Her supporters won't care.
Democrats never eat their own. They have the bigger tent (white liberals + 75% Hispanics + 90% blacks + 75% Asians + pro-choice women + Union workers + Those on food stamps + those on 100 general welfare programs + voter fraud).
They are not going to vote for Carson who wants them to be self-reliant.
The poll definitely got the debate winner and loser correct.
Glad to see Cruz on the rise. There’s no way he would spike up to 2nd place just because of the debate. But he’s moving in the right direction and has a chance to catch some momentum.
There’s no earthly reason why anyone who knows Cruz’ record should pick Carson over Cruz. Cruz has done more to defend religious and moral concerns than Carson has. He defended religious liberty cases at the Supreme Court and he showed up to defend Kim Davis this year. Where was Carson on that one? And obviously Carson doesn’t hold a candle to Cruz on his depth of knowledge on economic and national security issues. Trump and Cruz should be the top two.
The reality is that people who weren’t paying attention to politics during the Obamacare filibuster/shutdown know very little about Cruz. He just looks like another face on the stage to them. Cruz’ challenge is to get his bio and the evidence of his convictions out there. He needs to talk more about himself than simply about his current positions on the issues.
Internet push pole. Disregard. Not used in RealClearPolitics.
Today’s IBD poll showing Trump ahead 28 to 23% is a phone phone and used for averaging by RCP.
Trump has simply not been impressive in any of the debates. It’s his weakest feature but it’s a very important one in the general election. The debates between Romney and Obama completely changed the trajectory of the race twice. Cruz has been solid in the debates and has now shown he can excel in the same way Gingrich did. If Cruz can keep his debate performance near this level then it would be foolish to support Trump over Cruz. We need someone who can win the debates. I am far more confident in Cruz’ ability to eviscerate Hillary and defend himself against his own vulnerabilities effectively than I am of Trump.
Carson’s not honest. He completely misrepresented and mischaracterized his occupation as a paid spokesman for Mannatech. Nobody would care that much if he simply admitted he did infomercials for their product. Granted, they might have an issue with when Carson said their product seemed to have the ability to cure cancer, not long before Texas sued Mannatech for millions over false advertising. The fact that he decided instead to lie about his work for the company is a serious moral failing.
In 2016, Cruz’s chances of winning in general are about the same as another great conservative, Barry Goldwater.
The ‘debates’ have already been exposed for their Liberal bias. Romney was never gong to win for Many reasons, yet America loves Donald Trump.
Trump will be very effective against Hillary. Hillary is a carpet bagger trying to get New Yorkers to vote for her over Native Son Donald Trump. New Yorkers will vote for Trump over Hillary Clinton day in and day out.
Trump would sell out the dog track.
Your a DC establishment Trump hater !
You want Rubio the Traitor !
The amnesty traitor owned but K street .
You lie here ever post for the Rnc Billionaire owners .
I agree. Carson is not a threat to Trump. In the debate, Carson was asked a question and his response was so convoluted and off center that no one in our group had a clue what the hell he was saying.
That fraud is a Rubio troll !
He list for the DC k street enemies of the website.
Believe nothing from that Troll.
Roger...10-4...& out.
Gee who won the three debate polls yesterday !!!!
Trump ,Trump, trump
Reality really bites for the Trump bashers !
Your pathetic..
get a new hobby !
Trump’s had three chances now and he simply doesn’t shine in the debates. He’s great at speeches and mostly good in interviews. But I have no confidence in his ability to win the debates against Hellary in the eyes of the majority of Americans. He doesn’t present an incisive and well-put-together collection of facts in the debates. He more often twists the questions around so that he can revert back to his familiar talking points about “building a wall” or “taking jobs back from China.”
