The liberal left has notoriously attacked the saying “Merry Christmas†during the holidays and has fought to keep the saying out of public places, ostensibly so as not to offend atheists, Muslims and other non-Christians.
With the holiday season just around the corner, there will undoubtedly be more liberal attacks against Christians, and more retailers saying “Happy Holidays†instead of “Merry Christmas.†The sacredness of Christmas will be further assaulted, but one political candidate, in particular, won’t give in to the left’s anti-Christmas campaign. Donald Trump, Republican presidential candidate, slammed the liberals’ “politically correct†agenda to dismantle the true meaning of the holiday season — the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The current GOP front-runner is a self-proclaimed Christian and, in an interview with Yellowhammer Radio, discussed his views on the Christian holiday.
“I go out of my way to use the word ‘Christmas,’†he said. “There’s an assault on anything having to do with Christianity.â€
Trump is right. Liberals have attempted to distort the true meaning of Christmas and often take legal action to further their cause. Trump explained that department stores and other retailers won’t say “Merry Christmas†during the holidays anymore because “(t)here’s always lawsuits and unfortunately a lot of those lawsuits are won by the other side.â€
“I will assault that,†Trump said. “I will go so strongly against so many things, when they take away the word, ‘Christmas.’â€

Trump is smart. You never let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Trump will deliberately talk in generalities until he secures the Presidency.
One should never fully disclose one’s plan until after one is in a position to make changes.

I didn’t say that but they did use decorations that said “Happy Holidays”.
I’m ancient enough to remember the 50s and 60s and retailers used Merry Christmas.
I thought that was the case too.
Okay.
It will be interesting to see how Trump handles the Christmas issue with Carson. I think trump was setting up for it when he said he “just doesn’t know about Seventh Day Adventists”.
SDA’s don’t celebrate Christmas, so when Trump asks Carson what he is doing for Christmas, it will bring the issue to the fore.
That is going to be interesting.

No, in the 50s and 60s you were certainly free to say Merry Christmas. And it was certainly common to hear Christmas carols such as Silent Night or Oh Come All Ye Faithful in the department stores.
I don’t see it as a war on Christmas as in the 50’s and 60’s many stores put Happy Holidays
I seem to recall Merry Xmas being used a lot. Didn't like it then and don't like it know.
Happy Kwanza is cool though.
