In what had to rank as the worst presidential debate in modern history, CNBC anchors berated, cut off, and skewed the words of Republican candidates over the course of two hours on Wednesday night. In spite of - and in the case of Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Chris Christie, among others, because of - that horrifically biased moderation, Republicans emerged looking better for wear. They needed to show they had elbows, and many of them did.
Without further ado, here are the debate grades.

All I know is that Kansas City beat the Mets...
RE “F”:
I dunno. Think about it, for a moment. It proved EXACTLY what folks have been saying regarding the moderators. And the candidates showed they weren’t going to take it.
Not saying Reince even THOUGHT about it like that, but... there’s a positive to everything. It backfired on the media.
And probably set the tone for future debates and how to react to the mods.
You would too if you weighed 300 lbs.
He calls Kasich Shouty McScreamypants! That’s gold, Jerry! Gold!
Priebus looks like the straw man in the Wizard of Oz....
I don’t believe his heart is in it...he certainly lacks ‘that fire in his belly’. He seems to be out of his element, either as mentioned above, or he was/is way overrated.
I spoke with my friend this morning, briefly. She is a registered Dem and while fiscally conservative, she is socially liberal. She likes Trump and feels the next President will be a republican. She felt Cruz won the debate and CNBC was awful. FWIW.
I think I’m ignorant with regard to Huckabee and the Clintons. How did he go up against them?
The debate was far more entertaining than I had expected.
ABSODAMNLUTELY!!!!!!!!!! Republicans should hold debates with their own moderators instead of enlisting the P.R. branch of the dim-0 party. Did they already forget how candy crowley joined in the debate against Romney in 2012?
You are right!
Rubio. One of the best moments of the debate. He called out the press and Hillary both, in one go. The crowd cheered.
RUBIO: OK. I know the Democrats have the ultimate SuperPac. It's called the mainstream media who every single day...The third Republican debate transcript, annotated - The Washington Post - October 28 at 10:46 PM(APPLAUSE)
... and I'll tell you why. Last week, Hillary Clinton went before a committee. She admitted she had sent e-mails to her family saying, "Hey, this attack at Benghazi was caused by Al Qaida-like elements." She spent over a week telling the families of those victims and the American people that it was because of a video. And yet the mainstream media is going around saying it was the greatest week in Hillary Clinton's campaign.
It was the week she got exposed as a liar. It was the week that she got exposed as a liar...
(APPLAUSE)
But she has her super PAC helping her out, the American mainstream media.
This article is excellent. I don’t see a thing I can disagree with.
Anybody notice in that picn
A couple of lines I thought were great.
Don’t like Rubio, but he did a good job, one really good comment about Hillary’s media “super PAC”. Loved it.
Cruz hit it out of the park with his statement about the media, and managed to not answer a gotcha question too.
Huckabee... I’m wearing a Trump tie, get over that one. Classic.
Christie...even in New Jersey that’s rude. Excellent.
Fiorina...still lying about going from secretary to CEO. She did, but not in the same job. And talking about being a leader...yeah right, look at her record at HP.
Bush...go home to mommy already.
Paul...ditto.
I’ve never watched CNBC, never will again, Horrible job.
" I've spent my whole career fighting the Clinton machine. Not only fighting them, but winning. Not only winning, but I'm alive to tell about it! "
He hit it on the head! We didn’t get to see Trump’s take down of Kasich, as we were heading home from church, then had to go to a friend’s house. We have not had a TV since 1985, and even then, we rarely watched it. Reince Priebus, imo, owns how badly the panel treated the candidates. I’ve written him a couple letters complaining that we need a forum that is held by conservative talk-show hosts who will ask the candidates the questions conservatives want answers to instead of the gotcha questions and trying to stage the narrative around issues that are not important to us. He doesn’t get it, obviously.
He’s always claimed to be fighting against Clinton influence. He’s from Arkansas and lost against a democrat (Dale Bumpers) in the early 90’s.
He became governor in 1998 after Jim Guy Tucker was convicted of fraud (Tucker became governor after Clinton became president). Tucker initially rescinded his resignation, but Huck threatened to impeach him so he changed his mind.
Why did the stupid bass turds go on CNBC?
I think the bias argument is much ado about nothing. I mean, it was good that they pointed it out, but the deck is stacked each and every time they do a debate. What is most important is how they rise above it and reach over the head of the media.
Oh, and Tucker worked for the Rose Law Firm of which Hillary and Vince Foster were partners.
Thanks for the info.
