In what had to rank as the worst presidential debate in modern history, CNBC anchors berated, cut off, and skewed the words of Republican candidates over the course of two hours on Wednesday night. In spite of - and in the case of Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Chris Christie, among others, because of - that horrifically biased moderation, Republicans emerged looking better for wear. They needed to show they had elbows, and many of them did.
Without further ado, here are the debate grades.

I don’t agree about Christie. All I saw was that he couldn’t stand up straight. He was practically laying on the podium.
CNBC WAS SIMPLY AWFUL!!!!!
Shapiro’s assessment is 100% right on the money.
——but did he look as tall as the rest of ‘em?
Shapiro hits it dead on. I don’t disagree with any of the grades he gave.
It is truly time for Paul, Bush, Kasich and the folks in the prelim to pack it in. They’re going nowhere.
>>John Kasich: F. Shouty McScreamypants came out in full force <<
I don’t care what galaxy you come from, that is just full-on funny!
Jeb’s campaign manager complained to the producer about Jeb getting less air time.
I think I heard the producer say:
“I was just trying to help!”.........
RNC, can you please rinse your Priebus... and flush?
To underestimate Rubio is not a real good idea. It looked to me like Rubio, Cruz, Christie and Trump all decided that Jeb and Kasich had to go. The best way to do it was to take the focus off Trump and gang up on the two most despicable people on that stage, the elite’s “plan A” and “plan B”. Carson was hurt by not taking any leadership. Rand does nothing to bring people in to his views. Think of it as Apprentice. Rubio, Cruz, Christie, and Trump certainly wouldn’t have been “fired” last night.
Although he was probably watching the Royals game last night.
Excuse me, everyone else is underestimating Rubio for being the outright LIAR that he is. He justifies bad behavior by using the worst examples of bad behavior? Good Grief! Give me a break!
As I said at one thread, Rubio made a fantastic field goal attempt by dressing down the media and JEB but in doing so he kicked it through the roof and it went through the goal posts behind him. Spectacular on its face but no points are awarded for kicking it through the opponents goal.
I read the FR live thread rather than watched, and this seems pretty much in line with the reactions here. I think it was important for others to begin attacking the media-—not just Trump (”Do you write this stuff?”). EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN should begin with “the premise of your question is downright stupid. I’ll answer what I think the American people would find useful in that question . . . .”
Nice roundup. I’m pretty sure Jebecito has already gotten the call from his mega-donors. We just need to wait a bit to see how they finesse the announcement.
Krispy Kreme just slammed the biased media on Squak Box.
lol...I believe old Jebbie was somewhat cut down to size.
Its John Harwood.
Reince gets an F for Booking this group!
Good. I think all but the stupidest (i.e., Kasich, Yeb) understand now that this is a winning approach at EVERY opportunity.
Lol...snarky Howard just tried (and failed) to get a little dig in on Krispy...on Squak Box.
Huckabee is doing better than I thought he would. He does have a sense of humor. That said, a guy named Hucka anything is going to be a longshot. The jokes write themselves.
